Lighting - please have a look at my situation...

I've got 2 blueberry in a 7 pod aerogarden with two 26w blubs.
It's day 36 and I've switched to 12/12 hours of light as of yesterday from 16/8 hours of light.
I'm waiting for a new cooltube/fan/duct so I can switch over to my 400w HPS which should be in a weeks time.
Clearly I am a newbie and I need some advice, in the image bellow are the plants out of the grow room (3.5 feet tall, 2.5 feet wide, 1.7 feet long). Plants are both about 2 feet tall

AND BELLOW THAT IS HOW I HAVE POSITIONED THE LIGHTS.... IS THIS OKAY?
CAN YOU SET LIGHTS SIDEWAYS LIKE THIS?
One reason I thought I'd try this is because I want some more bush going on and the plants seem to growing upwards just fine.

P.S
The leaves are a little dry, I went to a 21st and came back 24 hours later and while I was away the plant grew to close to the light, can I fix this??

is there a reason your side lighting instead of overhead?
I assume because your using the term 'side lighting' it is a legitimate thing?
I want them to get a little more bush and I thought maybe this might help, clearly Im a fucking noob at growing weed so I had to come here and ask around a bit.
The plants grow straight up no matter what, I've always made sure that the light isnt up to far so they dont end up too stalky but they keep growing up anyways, thats not the issue anyways, I just want more bush, I want thickness in leaves haha

I figured, why not put the light at the side until I get the cool tube so I can start running the 400w HPS next week

and a lil burn doesnt do to much to the plant as far as long term, or irreparable damage is concerned...just causes a bit of stress.

ya...it is a term, and alot of people use a lower watt, or same watt light as an additive to overhead lighting, if you have no room for another overhead, but want more lumens...if it was me...and i know it will be hard to do only because it is your first grow, and dont want to look at a tard plant for a week...tie the top down, and veg for 2 more weeks...then flower...what will happen if you tie the top down, it will start to U back upwards...while also promoting undergrowth...leaving you with a bush. this is called LST ( low stress training) google it to get an idea...if you do lst, and veg for an extra week...then throw a 400w hps above her your yeild will double, if not triple what it will be if you leave them how they are...and you can keep tying different parts of the plant down, as each lower branch gets taller and taller...basically by tying the tallest branch on the plants down, it makes all the other ones try and get the biggest to compete for the bigger cola ( bud )

But what do you recommend in terms of the lighting and such?

just as i said, i would do a bit of reading into LST...veg 2 more weeks, then flower...i promise you, it wont kill your potential, or already known ladies...you will love me forever if you do LST

Holy shit man!
You've just opened my mind up to a whole different thing!
I've never heard of LST until today and I've read through some things and looked through pictures, pictures I had seen before but had no idea what the hell was happening. I will definitely try this, so do you start by tying the top leaves down then as they get bushier tie lower leaves down? I'll keep researching.

So you recommend LST the plants for 2 weeks? then start flowering?

absolutely veg for another 2 weeks...tie the entire main stem down, so the top is lower...then well...the top...lol, and each branch underneath will start to explode...and start tying them all down, and outward...ot in a circular type of thing...like, ima try and explain...she is tall enough now...bend her strait down and to the right...towards the edge of your pot...let her start to grow back upwards, then tie the new growth doen again...going in a circular pattern around the outside rim of your pot...also try and keep it level...

Due to the fact that I suck at this the plant on the left snapped so im just letting hang with a piece of tie and the other one is tied in two places as you can probably tell.

looks good man, i would tie the top down more though...like in the picture...they will all start to U back towards the light...what gets the bottom branching to start growing is the fact that the main cola is below midway down the stem...or just leave it...either way branches will be everywhere soon...just keep tying her down.and keep this updated...or start a new LST thread, i will be interested to see how everything turns out for ya.

anytime man.
Okay so its been a week of LST and its looking a lot better, getting much bushier, one more week and I'll post some pictures.
When I do start flowering in another week and change to 12/12 hour lighting should I put the 400w HPS 2 feet up? I'm not too sure about light distance.

LST training is a bitch though. You're constantly adjusting because marijuana has such a fast growth. I''ve only ever grown once before. We were bonzai training as well. It sounds cool but half of the time you're afraid of f***ing up your plant.

I've only been LST for a week and I know what you mean, I managed to snap one of my plants but I fixed her up with some tape and toilet paper :D
