i have alot of growth towards the bottom of my bush. i know there are gonna be some branches that wont get alot of sunlight so the debate is wether to keep them or just get rid of them. Any suggestions would be helpful. its almost 4ft high and 3.5 ft wide and its outside in a 10 gallon pot :leaf:

How about a picture?
Personally, when I see the lower branches aren't going to make it to the canopy I trim them out.
Less popcorn & larger/fatter buds.

i could only see you doing more harm than good. I doubt trimming off of a plant that size would help much in bud production

Well, here's what an expert has to say.

"about 2 to 3 weeks into flowering. you can get a pretty good idea of what's gonna be solid colas and what's gonna be popcorn at that time. i remove all the popcorny stuff."

If he thinks its a good idea then I'd go with that.

I won't discredit this info, I will just say Fdd dosnt grow 4 ft plants. He might need to trim his lower branches.

If she is outside and depending on your flowering time, i would harvest the ripe buds when they are ready, this will give you something to smoke on while you wait for those smaller buds to ripen under the natural sun. Try cutting at the main stalk, one clean cut will stress her out as little as possible, cauterize if you really wanna make sure she heals nicely without infection
Are you gonna keep her year round outdoors or just chop her down?

this is also personal preference, rough comparison one 4 ft bush compared to twenty 15 ft monsters. of course fdd's lower buds are not going to get any light. and he doesn't want to dick around with trimming them. this guys one plant should be fine. and if in 2 or 3 weeks into flowering(which we have no idea where he is at) if he doesn't want the hassle of trimming them chop them off.

Actually, here's the bush he was referring to in that quote.

that isn't a 4 ft plant, the side of that shed I'm guessing is 6 ft, and that plant hasn't even began to flower stretch. look at the base of it, that's a tree not a bush. By the time that was finished I can understand trimming the lower branches.

I personally cut off all lower/slower growth the 1st two weeks of bloom, never had any issues except plants that bend over due to the weight up top. If you trim the bottom it will most likely explode in growth. No need to go crazy with it, but the lowest spindly stems will only produce popcorn.
