Hello, first grow ordered a 150 watt HPS light, and some good soil, do i have to use nutrients? Or can i just used Fox Farms Ocean soil with a little bit of egg shells/coffee grounds? And will 150 watt HPS be good for veg/flowering as well? I also have CFL's if needed, but dont want to rack the electric bill way up ::sad:

150 watt hps is just like having a 2 100 watt regular light bulbs on in your house
nothing to worry about

And also, could i get away with just using a little bit of miracle grow and good soil, instead of using a bunch of chemicals?

Nice! so can anyone give me advice on nutrients, id rather not use them, and just use really good soil, or is it better to use them for bigger yields?

You should use nutrients just so your plant will be happy.
You can go on with out using any but your plants will not be thebest it can be.

Also I recommend using some additional cfl bulbs with your 150 your plants should love the mix.

A good cheap nutrient is jacks classic. Works fine and is only 5-7 dollars for a small amount that should get you thru until harvest.

i have 150w hps in a fridge grow box with another 150w of cfls as side lighting and i barely notice any difference on my electric bill.
i did notice that my plants were much happier after adding the cfls as side lighting.

I'd personally steer clear of Miracle Grow (it is just a bunch of chemicals). Just go get some good organic soil mix...I'm currently trying out Dr. Earth's and am happy with the results (there are a ton others out there). You can use some organic nutes with it to supplement.

As far as your electric bill...meh...you wont really notice anything. Good luck!
