Im Looking To Buy A Carbon Filter... Whats the Best For The Money??

SOUND DEAFING IS A MAJOR PLUS!!!!!! my room is getting louder and louder. i have the C.A.P. 8" exhaust fan on my hood. i want to attach the filter at the end of my exhaust, since my exhaust is exiting the room. this is why i am concerned. ithis is my first major grow with real lights. i had a flour. grow wayyyy back in 97. it was a small little set up that produced a 1/4lb. of very awesome smoke, for what it was. so this is all new to me. i have been getting help on RIU the whole time. i highly appreciate this website. so, to get back to the subject (a little faded), whats up with them making noise??? is this something else i need to take into consideration?? im leaning towards a Phat Philter. but whats up with the Rhino shit?? Elf filter?? please elaborate on the difference please. thanks in advance!!

Eh, the Elf filter isn't designed for heavy use. It's made for smaller tent grow operations. I'd go with either a Pro Filter, Can filter, or Phat filter in that order. The filter isn't what makes the noise either, that's from the fan and your ducting setup. You can buy a duct muffler to reduce turbulence.

For your setup, I'd recommend setting things up like so; filter=>ducting=>light hood=>ducting=>fan=>outside the room. You'll have to seal everything 100% that way to make sure no unfiltered air gets drawn into the exhaust air, but this way you wouldn't have to have a separate fan to cool the light. When I had a single light grow that's how I did it and it works just fine.

A speed controller is just that...a speed controller. I've never seen one in a multi control unit. I think CAP makes one for around $30? Just get the Harbor Frieght one for $13

Are you sure there's not just a minimum amperage rating on the speed controller to be used?

Yeah, I'm sure. For the life of me I can't remember what the issue is, I'll have to look it up... something about a brushless motor.

I can not be using anymore electric. this is a major concern right now. i have a 1000w HPS, 2 t5 Sunblaze's, a regular t8 4 bulb fixture and a portable A/C unit. right now electric is only $195. this next months bill, im dreading to see. are those generators electric free?

i just did a quick google search for a fan speed controller on Harbor Freight, and nothing came up. said no match results.

You could get an ozone generator:http://www.rainbowaire.net/product/Newaire-Auto-Series-II-NAAUTO-II.cfm or http://http://www.planetnatural.com/site/ozone-jr.html. Most people seem to use carbon filters, is there a reason why? Ozone generators seem to be decently cheap and without the hassle.

Because if you use an ozone generator in your house it can give you respiratory problems. We're not meant to breathe ozone.
