600w HID Light Kits Which Ones to Avoid????

I see all kinds of HPS/Metal halide 600w kits on Ebay, but i dont know what ones are decent and which ones are junk. Besides the different hoods, im more concerned with the ballast. Some help here would be very appreciated.:mrgreen:

I would steer away from e-bay buying a light or any other high price gear. When you buy something like a light you want to have top notch service and warranty in case something goes wrong. Also there are shops that specialize in lighting. I deal w/ HTG they sell on ebay too, but the prices are same on there retail site and i feel like I get better service going thru the retail, plus it cuts out the middle man, ebay

i see some cheap ones too! the local hydro shop owner "strongly" recommends lumitek or quantum. I have ZERO hid experience but im getting the feeling that "you get what you pay for" atfer seeing a couple hoods at the store.

Yea i saw them on ebay from 164$ on up. I just dont want to get some cheap ass kit that smokes shortly after buying it. i mean really, your paying for the ballast and they give you a shit bulb and hood i guess? If you want a Hortilux bulb instead of the "Standard" bulb its like 65$ more.

I bought a cheap kit on Ebay 1,000W / ballast/HPS bulb/MH Bulb /enclosed hood /yoyos /timer for like 300.00 so far its done well no issues what so ever I had 2 successful grows using it only for 12/12 I use a T5 for vegging. I'm sure they arent tthe best but I have no complaints yet. Mine came from California.
