The market

Remember when a drop in the Dow in the 100s of points was cause for alarm? A very rare occurence? Sure, the Dow was less than the 10-11,000 it is now, but even percentage wise like a 3% drop is substantial. And it is happening on a daily basis.
I am not panicked but I am concerned. I don't know if anyone alive has ever seen it like this, I certainly haven't. And I have 401k money that I am not that far from using.

This stock market has no backbone anymore due to the weak and unstable economy as well as the unpredictability of the government. Hey I noticed every time Obama makes a speech the market usually drops by a substantial amount; coincidence? I'll let you decide.

With that said the stock market is no longer a good barometer of the economy. So don't give it to must prudence.

It would be just as reasonable to say that due to Obama's speech, the market is only down 2-3 pts instead of 4-5. I believe neither is true. Normal market drivers are not working right now, it's all emotion I think.

Yup, but it would be a huge coincidence if that happened every-time..

Based on what the market was on the day he assumed office. Why do you have to be an idiot about it?
He's just trolling at this point, they're all going to hate Obama no matter what he does... I mean, almost his whole plan revolves around tax cuts and incentives - something Republicans generally support - but since he proposed it, Republicans will now fight against it at all costs. herp derp

On January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day) the Dow closed at 8000.86. Yesterday's close was 11295.81. That is actually an increase of 41.18%.

Edit: oops. double checked and it actually closed at 7949.09 on 01/20/2009. That makes the percentage change 42.10%.
