well my bf is a marine but i think joining the military is pretty stuipd unless you intend to make a career out of it. in order to be an officer you have to be college educated, if you're not going to get to that level, then you're probably wasting your time. the pension is good but the longterm benefits kind of blow, of course, they are better than no benefitsi which the rest of us Americans are getting. some of us put in 40 & 50 years of tax $s too. the military only has to put in 20 to get a pension (same with cops). it's twisted but that's the USA

What ever, yes i know all this shit i pointless, the deaths are pointless. If we are going to do this, i take pride knowing that hopefully some day i can help or troops with a new weapon.

My Dad told me some of his stories. I feel sorry for anybody who decides to join the military. It ruined him physically and mentally but someones gotta do it

I am a former paratrooper so I can say in all honesty that I am getting sick and tired of all the ass kissing of military people. Many vets are soaking the government worse than welfare mamas. For instance, a friend of mine was getting out of the military so he manipulated the system so that he was given a 50% service connection for his sleep apnea that was diagnosed while on active duty. Now he gets a fat check every month for life and he doesn't even have apnea anymore. This is common. Veterans are always begging for more benefits, discounts, reduced property taxes, etc and if you oppose them, they question your patriotism. Fuck that. Stand up to these punks and tell them they are the same as welfare queens looking for their sugar daddy to hook them up.

Cut the military budget in half and stop policing the world, that's my opinion. We spend almost a trillion a year on defense and most of it is wasted since we can't even take out afghanistan after 10 fucking years. My best bud that I went to HS and college with came home from his third tour a few weeks ago and promptly put a bullet in his head. WTF this is not worth it.

actually i had a lot of respect before my bf tainted my mind with his view of reality which i am pretty sure is the truth since he has always been on point with his accessments. i trust him and he told me it's a bunch of fools who have no other route to go in life. not to say i have no respect, i just have an understanding of how the inner workings are.

Yeah, but the military pays for college, isn't that pretty much why everyone joins? If you sign up to be a life long staff sergeant then yeah....

Yeah my bro works on the improvement of armor of military helicopters. I'm not gonna say what type but he is always talking about getting bullet ridden pieces back and having to try and find new ways to improve them.

I'm sorry but I cannot respect any descion of murder. Even though it does protect me I feel empathetic towards the people we invade. Alot of innocent people slaughtered for revenge. Who would alqueda bomb if we weren't there. certainly not there own people. Those people were fully aware of the consrquences of joining the military. If they joined before 911 there military term started before 911 their contracts would have ended now. They are there because they chose to be.
