This issue is now online so it will be dealt with. Get ruling then something else. I am guilty. 65 mustang and Toyota Tiger at stop light, I see the cop coming and jump the light, Tiger gets pulled over I get waved over. Yes? You two were drag racing! No I saw you and I excelerated to 45 I'm less than a mile from home. I did not get a ticket that day.
I don't see the relevance to this issue on debate unless your refering to the over all police state in America, either way that was a smooth move.

Who wants to discuss this entrapment? OK Being the smart ass I am I would put a blinker into my head lights and state it is an experimental safety device? What will OCP do write a citation or watch my headlights? As I have been fishing in that area I think. Push the line but be prepared. They better flash on their own! And not wigwag! I guess I am wired all the time. During construction I saw a car at edge of wall I got pulled over, his comment was I do not know how fast you were going just that you slammed your nose to the ground! Catch you later.

Should Flashing Your Headlights To Warn Drivers About Cops Ahead Be Illegal?

I always hand signal to drivers and point to my radar detector when a cop is near, in Florida I could be ticketed? Ive even thought about installing digital marquee text or some king of sign.

Flashing your lights to warn of police officers is illegal in Florida and this man is filing a law suit on motorists behalf.

Haven't read anything but the OP and the video.

Good defense, some lawyer owes their parallegal a bonus lol.

The officers, if they wanted the charge to stick, should have charged him with whatever the Florida statute is of creating a hazardous driving condition by obstructing the vision of oncoming drivers imo.

Nice defensive move though.

Sorry, I was trying to be fresh, I just wasn't clear there.

Anyways, I flash my lights for other reasons as well, I flash them when I am behind a person driving slower than the posted speed limit in the left lane, I also religiously transition between brights and lows when someone is passing by at night as not to be a blinding someone through their mirrors.

Who here wants to be the defense for making this a law if I got pulled over for my courteous driving habits?

Yyes The American Police state: second time I read about this I am old I drive slow unless I think your just gonna cut in front of me and cause me to use my brakes!
Once there is a ruling think how to get around it. Like the airports If I decided I wanted to blow my self up in a airplane I weigh 300 pounds with enough oxycodone that I could just get into the airplane how much explosive could I get in my abdomen? And they want to check tennis shoes? And yes I had the pillow and whole costume when I was Santa Claus.

You know there is also a posted minimum get behind me and flash lights and see which 1 I go by just saying. I am to old to play on the interstate in Atlanta but someone managed to get t-boned in 7:00 I400 traffic and ended up in oncoming traffic. Just Stay Cool And Arrive Alive! Peace!

It should be illegal. There is a good reason there are speed limits. Speeding causes accidents. DUH! And prohibiting signalling isn't remotely violating free speech. Instead it should be under accessory to a crime.
If speeding causes accidents how come the German Autobahn has the best safety record of all? Cars routinely go over 200KPH on parts of the autobahn.

Living out in the sticks I also flash my lights to indicate caution if I know oncoming traffic is going to encounter deer or livestock on or near the road. I, personally, do not warn people of speed traps. I feel that if you're going to break traffic laws then you need to deal with the consequences. But should I be prosecuted for being a responsible citizen and thinking about the safety of others? Once again. This is a free speech issue.

If the police are dutifully monitoring traffic speeds why would it be acceptable to help other citizens circumvent traffic law? ...Especially in a case where it puts lives in danger (see speeding).

best song about police .........

This man is a true patriot for standing up to the FHP!! the ticket was only $100, he could have paid it and walked away but he stood up for his right and ours. bravo

First he was ticketed for violating Florida Statue 316.2397 section 7 which reads: Flashing lights are prohibited on vehicles except as a means of indicating a right or left turn, to change lanes, or to indicate that the vehicle is lawfully stopped or disabled upon the highway or except that the lamps authorized in subsections (1), (2), (3), (4), and (9) and s. 316.235(5) are permitted to flash.

When the Florida Lawmakers penned this law it was aimed at people rigging their cars to imitate emergency vehicles. This man wasn't ticketed because he flashed his lights he was ticketed because his car was capableof flashing its lights (manually).

There is no law on the books in FL that forbid the manual flashing of lights but the officer felt there should be a law and overstepped his authority and wrote a ticket for a crime that had not been committed. Since 2005, FHP records show more than 10,429 drivers have been cited under the statute.

If the people of FL want this outlawed their legislators need to pass a law against it. Its not ethical to write tickets to people for crimes they didnt commit just because the officer didnt like it.

If flashing your headlights is illegal then they could ticket ANYONE and simply say that you flashed your headlights, thats the point, hell what if you accidentally hit it with your hand? Should you be ticketed for accidentally brushing up against your brights button?
This is what I was going to say.

Why shouldn't you be able to videotape police in any given scenario?
Exactly. Police can record us - we can't record them. This is scary because it is non-sensical.

Transparency is important for truth, justice (if there is such a thing), and rational decision making. If the police don't want to be transparent - well, then... what do you think? They all got something they want to hide.

Cops are not upstanding citizens who just serve and protect the public. They are in it for themselves, like everyone else, or they have fallen into the fold with those that control everything.

Florida Is stupid when it come's to law's,,,and He has a damn good case and hope he win's! When cop's set up speed trap's or have cop's deal illegal drug's and prostitution,,,That's entrapment IMO...Kinnda like fishing for the weak fish. Trucker's have cb's and alway's give bear report's and it's legal and the cop's hear them. Flashing headlight's is not a crime!!!! Go Win BRO one for the team. Saftey my ass,,,Money making is the thing here,,,even when illegal.

I usually turn the lights off and on...Not low to high. Same if I see someone in the city driving in well lit areas to make them aware that they would be better visible if they were to turn their lights on.
In LA Cali though can get you killed by would be Gang bangers thinking you are encroaching on their style. True story been on the news here.
Also as a Biker we tap the top of our helmets to warn of enforcement that may be hiding in the bushes..
Good news though the cops on the Radar are more susceptible to Cancers. Now they use Lazers to nail multiple cars with a signature.
Did you hear about the car that was painted with stealth fighter jet paint? Yep, he got busted because many cops said have you lazered or radar that certain make and model and got no reading back?" Might be able to find the story on the net?

why shouldn't anybody be able to record me while i shower??
Are you being paid by the general public to take that shower in a public space for the good of the public? If you aren't, then you have a protection under the constitution to be able to exist as a private being away from the scrutiny of everyone else.

best song about police .........
Those people in the auditorium show how the public will not stand up for their rights....They should be ashamed of themselves. For one, the speaker to keep speaking as though nothing is going on and those sitting next to the cops doing nothing. It will happen to them someday. Like when you are ushered into a FEMA camp! Wanted one Sniper with rifle...I am going to send this video to my Governor and ask him once again to Police the Police via 360 Cameras on Police cars that feed direct to an undisclosed black box that when there is a complaint it is reviewed by an ACLU attorney. Makes Venezuela and Brazil look so much more better of place to live. Disgusted and loathing bullies. Not all cops are bad but if they had a camera on them they may stay on the right side of the line. I liked the Lyrics in the song...B.T.W Listen to them.

haha...

this is just another thread meant to 'scare' the people into losing trust in their government. the laws aren't against video-taping the police. they are against recording audio of the police while in duty. meant to protect undercover cops or some bullshit. some counties are interpreting it as 'videotaping' the police while in the public, but the supreme court has stricken it down.

much like i suspect it'll strike this down if somebody has the time and money to take it all the way up there....
What is that Propaganda so we start to trust the Govt? You are not one of us.
