More tops = smaller colas?

I think the fact my plant has so many tops is delaying harvest due to the plant having to produce so many colas vs one main one?
I'm not sure, Im interested to see what everyone else thinks. I have lots of tops and colas but I also have been bumping up feed as plants get bigger. I expected to harvest in Oct, so I THINK im on track with the 3 indica's but the other 2 sativas are way behind. I would guess that more tops do not delay harvest, however I really do not know that answer.

Well I think it MAY considering the plant has to focus on more buds/colars vs 1 main cola....we shall wait n see what the others think.

if there are alot of tops.
meaning, they crowd eachother out.
then you are going to have reduced yield. because they dont give eachother the space they need.

small top, small bud. that goes too.

and light does not penetrate the leaves or buds to any extent. so all those buds are gonna shade eachother out and limit the good yield to the utmost top buds.
but say if you, got 10 tops, kept it that way, gave it adequate rootroom and time to size up those tops. youd get a lot more yield.

specially if those tops are spaced such that they pull eachother apart (easier achieved with 4 tops actually which is probably the best number to shoot for, number vs size type of thing)
giving light to the plant.

problem?

you need alot of time to veg that plant out to give you big nice buds on it. shorter single bud plants or 4 top plants, would be much quicker in veg (just more plants)
so greater harvest yearvise.

more tops delay growth.

plant only can process so much nutes per day and therefore multiple tops at the beginning will slow growth and the more the more tops.
of course later, this can become an advantage, but by then you got a huge plant and hard to deal with indoors.

plus like i said, even outdoors, if the buds dont pull apart from eachother and dont crowd out the light, skimpier harvest.

Mine are in the ground. Here is a pic I took today. Think my plant is going to be delayed due to tops? I didnt plan on this...the plant bent itself -=/

Looks like it has a sativa twist, could be why it's taking so long?

This is all BS,more tops don't slow a plant down.

More tops generally means a wider plant, that's why people top,for a more even canopy.

And a big plant will have equally large roots to support itself.

No offence, but in reality topped and untopped plants generally produce roughly the same amount of bud in the end, topped sometimes slightly more from a more even canopy.

Everything you say is good in theory, but doesn't really work out in reality.

it's pretty simple fellas....if it's indoors in a container, more buds will be smaller cause it don't have the roots to support it. But, outdoors in the ground is a different story. A topped plant will almost always out yield an untopped one outside, strain depending somewhat. My buddies grew trhe Romulan in the ground untopped and I topped mine, and mine had waaay more weed on it, and the buds were just as big if not bigger.
More tops slowing a plant down is ridiculous BTW.
