heya, maybe someone can answer this question.
i have 8cm jiffy pots, they are about 200-250ml, i have some sprouts going up in them, it's 2 week now.
i can't understand am i over or under watering them, i'am giving them about 50ml in evening and in morning, maybe thats not enough?
leafs has now started to droop and yellow a bit, but not much.

Cut holes in the bottom of the container so water can drain out, and water them until you see plenty of runoff. Can't really overwater this way :P

that's like less than 1/4 a cup...i would water them more but just once for every couple days but that's just me...actually i used a spray bottle and just kept the soil misted generously every couple days

This is good advice for sure but you can still water them to frequently. Only water them if the medium is relatively dry. If the roots are moist then they are ok and don't really need more water yet. Getting oxygen to the roots is just as essential as nutrients and water.

I wonder if anyone has done this.
1. Cut holes in bottom of pot. Also add a vertical slot down the side leaving some at the top and bottom to keep thing together.
2. Line pot with clear plastic and cut out only bottom holes leaving a window of sorts on the side.
3. Fill with dirt and plant.
4. Water
5. Look in the window to check moisture of the pot.

Just a stoner moment thought.

How easy would it be to "see" the moisture of the plant? Compared to lifting the pot or using a moisture meter, that is.

water till the soil is wet and some runs off then wait, stick your finger into the pot to see if it needs more water, also weighing it by hand, pick up a pot thats full of soil but no water, now water it, feel that weight

i grew one plant in dirt in a 5 gallon bucket. I just watered her when the bucket felt light. Worked for me.
I like your idea, just not for the moisture reason. It'd be pretty cool to see how the roots were doin if it could see em :P

It is a nice stoner thought lol but it's just as easy to watch the runoff at the bottom of the pot IMO.......I dunno, maybe it's cause I got a natural green thumb (i think) but i just had another stoner thought....lol.....do you water your dog/cat on a prescribed schedule? and even if you do, i'm sure there are times when your pet will let YOU know when they are thirsty/hungry. it's really the same with plants.....i'msure
