Taking cuttings during flowering

Hello all,
I am growing 2 strains, both from Nirvana, non-feminized, Wonder Woman, & Swiss Cheese. I want to sex them first, then take cuttings after I toss out the males. How long into the 12/12 cycle can I take cuttings, and expect them to root up without too many problems?

taking cuttings about a week into flowering or when flower formations are forming is known as "Lollipopping" the clones should grow with multiple heads, i have limited practice at this , 1 thing i know for sure is that the clones taken whilst in flower take about a week longer to root , a far better plan is to take the cuttings whilst in veg (a couple from each) label them , and flower off the seedlings, pick your finest pheno's from the taken clones, its what i do anyways , good luck

You should be able to take cuttings at about any point in the cycle, just keep in mind that flowering clones take FOREVER to root.

You'd be better off either doing it in veg, or leaving some stuff on the plant when you harvest and reveg it.

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying to have patience if you do.

i have re-generated a couple before , that i forgot to clone - man it takes forever!!!!!

Also, not to sound like a know-it-all, but you're thinking of lollipopping. Supercropping is when you break the stalk enough to bend it down. You pretty much pinch the stalk until you feel it pop.

You can take a cut anytime during flower, as mentioned it does take longer to root ( Usually 2-3 weeks) rather than your normal 3-7 days from veg cuts.

Personally I just vegged my seedlings for 8 weeks until they matured and showed presex signs. Luckily I got all females, but now I'm flowering them and I know all my clones are females...

The latest I've ever taken a cut is 8 weeks into flower... beware it does take FOREVER for it to reveg and resume normal growth... at least 4 weeks in my experience.

Ive revegged buds that had 100% amber thrichomes when you take it in flower and reveg it every hair their is will shoot a new branch and it will become pretty bushy....it just takes longer and the stems on all the branches on all my revegged girls never come as thick as a seedling would. but the clones from a revegged clone come out like regular cuts taken in veg. what you could do is cut a smaller banch and stick it in a cup of water and leave it for about a week by a window sill and it should wither shoot hairs or balls....i do that with my seedlings and then reveg the branch i cut to check...Just my 2 cents

I've tried both "bending" and "taking clones during flowering". IMHO I'd recommend to take the cuttings about the time when the first set of calixes open, and to do so by cutting off the tips of the plant -as I've found it easier for them to root that way. It is true that as the flowering advances clones take longer to root. I'd say it is a good idea to take cuttings after 1 week into flowering, but it is also true that it'll be much faster if one does so during the vegetative stage. Make sure your clones get more than 12-14 hours light, and try to get some medium that can hold moisture well. If you do it well and learn to "measure" your plants (i.e. particular strains), it shouldn't take it more than 3-7 days for a cutting to be ready.

Actually they root very quickly when they are taken in FLOWER.... The hard part is getting them back to Vegatative growth.. Now that Takes FOREVER

My initial plan was to take cuttings before starting the 12/12. I have 20 of the SC and 10 of the WW and 2 cuttings from each, even 1 from each will put me over my legal limit. Also I think it'll occupy more space than I might have available. This is why I was hoping to sex them first, drop my numbers, then cut the females. Not sure though that I like the time lag it will take to root the cuttings from flowering plants. I'm only in the middle of week 3 so I have a bit of time to work it out. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Yeah, unfortunately with cloning, you have to fiddle with your numbers. The trick is having enough friends to give your extra's to.

Yeah I figure once I've picked the best 2 pheno's of each then I'll off any extra's above my legal numbers. Not too many mj friends as it's been 25 years since my last grow so might take a while to find somebody wanting them without doing any heavy advertizing. Wife and I just got our cards in July and I built a building dedicated to growing. Using 2-4', 4 bulb T5 for clones & vegging, 3-400w MH for the 4 mothers, and 4- 1000w HPS for flowering. Drain to waste DIY system for flowering stage and hand watering the rest. Using the Humboldt line of nutes.

The last time I smoked, until about three weeks ago was in 1992. Wife and I picked up 4 grams from a dispensary before they got shut down in mid August and still have about half of it remaining. My current career doesn't allow me to smoke even with my card so it's a little and all underground.

I'm wondering if you're using too much power, then. If you aren't smoking much, then one 1000 should do you just fine.

Court system working on the legality of the dispensaries and once they're approved again, I have a friend a few hundred miles away that owns one and can handle all my overages as well as a number of other growers. I'll be retiring next year so will be able to up my smoking amount to whatever i feel is necessary! Appreciate your comments and don't feel like you're judging me at all.
