Can a male go hermie?

I have this auto strain that id like to keep, but I only had one seed left and this strain is unclonable. I planted the seed, it broke ground 3 weeks ago, and today its starting to look male.
So you know how if you fuck with the dark period of a flowering plant it will often go hermie? Why not try it with a male? If I get even one female bud, it should give me enough seeds to 'repopulate the species'

not gonna happen. only way you are gonna keep that even partially around without buying new seeds or something is to breed it with some other female. atleast you will keep some of the genetics.

y not just let it go to seed and collect those?
because its a male.

Anyway, you are out of luck on turning a male hermie. it is not possible. your only hope for a hermie is that this male is actually a male dominant genetic hermie. its not possible to make them hermie but you can have genetic male hermies. i wouldnt use one to breed with though.

i once had a hermie plant that started out male but then grew pistils out of the sacs. it did it on its own without any help from me. i would not in any way call it suitable for breeding.

From what I've heard its very rare, and some breeders would kill for one apparently.
DJ short wrote something about 'male hermies'. He says that breeding with the pollen would be ideal because it would give you better chances for females.

how would it give you better chances for female seeds if you use genetic male hermie pollen? its an interesting idea but im a bit skeptical. How rare have you heard they are? I have never saw a genetic male hermie personally but ive seen 4 or 5 at least on here since ive started on here and when you then consider the fact that a large majority of growers do not let their males get any further than showing sex i would think at least some of those could of been genetic male hermies that were not allowed to show themselves before being killed.
