This does appear to be a seed company based forum, considering it has a "seeds" link at the top and there's only ever two seed companies in there, the same ones all the time. I have a feeling that there are more than two reliable seed companies in the world. Cannagraphic is similar. There's apparently a lot of that going on. Seed companies make a seemingly objective Magazine or forum but it's really all about promoting their parent seed companies, like Cannabis Culture magazine was after the first few issues.
What can you do? Most forums cost money to run. They have to get it somewhere. These ones happen to be funded by seed companies, that's all. If you get anything useful from the forums, then it has served some beneficial purpose. If not, just find one that ISN'T shilling for seed companies. Kind of hard to find, but there probably are a few out there.
As for members being noobs or whatever, all the forums are like that. 90% of the people are asking stupid questions that they could have answered by doing a little research themselves. Let's face it, growing Cannabis ain't tthat complicated, unless you do stupid stuff and screw it up. If a person can't grow weed successfully, they should also have someone else to dress them in the morning because they'll probably screw that up too. Cannabis is probably the easiest plant on earth to grow. If you can't accomplish that, then you should stay away from agriculture and stick to broom pushing. I have never ever asked for help on a Cannabis forum, though I have answered quite a few questions for others. I guess if they're comfortable with asking stupid questions, that's their call.
Incidentally, that forum that was criticizing this one is ALSO a seed company shill. There's a link at the top "Seedbank", which leads you to the PlanetSkunk seed company site. Pot calling the kettle black.
