Rain on the way Norcal, watcha gonna do, cut or cover?

I took a bud off my Rom yesterday to check under the microscope, to see how long before they are finished. What I'm seeing is about a week at the most on the big tops. Now that we have rain coming in less than a week, I'm cutting all my bigger colas, and basically most of it down. I'll leave the smaller stuff on and cover it. At my house is a different story, I have what looks to be 3-4 weeks on some, so they are getting covered.
I went ahead and started taking the colas off one Rom today and am knocking the water leaf off and hangin' it up! I'm gonna work on em' a little at a tiome over the next few days, instaed of having tyo do it in the rain like last year. That was a nightmare I don't care to repeat!!
So, what's your plans!?

My ladies are covered, in fact I covered them a while back ....I was thinking of cutting off the huge colas too but then I wonder if I leave the smaller stuff if it will even grow. The smaller stuff inside of plant looks like the hairs are done but the buds are popcorns. I wonder if it will help to leave it up or if they are too far. The smaller stuff inside plants looks more done than the colas just airy, the bigger colas actually have alot of white hairs left.

Since im covered, would u let huge colas keep growing and hairs turn red or cut a little early and leave up smaller stuff to fatten up? I think Im a week away give or take.

Quick question from 1,800 miles east of CA. Why does rain cause mold issues out there?, we don't have that problem unless you plant incorrectly to begin with.

Last year I let them all get rained on and could care less. I had them caged up so no breaking of stems or stocks.
This year I have a plan to cover with plastic over the cattle wire. Covering each one is a BIG job with 3 people!

Im told you need LOTS of beer to get the plastic covered correctly.

I am not cutting the tops until they are 95% done.

Rain can mold up yes. Water soaks into the bud and cant get out.
Blue dream appears immune to this.

I've never had a problem in this neck of the woods. We aren't humid generally speaking. Rain rinses off the dust etc. If they remained wet for days and days on end, then you may see mold.

It's mainly an issue in the big fat colas that are super dense. Blue Dream and Romulan have very similar bud structure, and they don't get it too bad. My SSH is the worst for getting bud rot. If it gets wet, it's gonna mold.
Idk why Cali is worse than other places, unless it's just because it's sooo dry all summer that when it gets wet and humid, mold grows quicker??IDK! I do know it doesn't take much wet weather here to cause all kinds of trouble.

Last year there was a big rain around October 15th. I just let my last plant get rained on. It got moldy. This year, since they're in buckets, I can move the ladies inside.

Yeah I know a lot of people that lost a lot of mold during that Oct 15th-ish rainstorm last harvest

I just checked the forecast 2 minutes ago and it said no rain for my part of NorCal until Tuesday morning. So im gonna let them all go until Sunday or Monday and chop the biggest/densest colas that are a) done or b) in danger of breaking branches or molding. Hopefully my cages and 100's of feet of string and tie should hold the rest of the branches up and as long as theres no mold, im gonna let stuff go as long as it can!

I have a full two weeks of ripening, but the colors and bulk are there. Just looks little green still.

good call man. i just tossed up a little plastic roof over my garden plants. rain last night - totally dry plants. it's always a good move to roof it.

Alright, latest forecast says storm Mon-Tues-Wed. No way to cover my plants, and as it is several can hardly support the weight of the buds as is. I can move them inside, but they are going to get light from the kitchen on them into the night. Trichs cloudy but I'd prefer to let them mature more, they went thru a lot of swelling in size past week. So my dilemma is to cut this weekend or ????

Its really rainny in ontario, buds still need like a month idk how its guna go but i am jus guna keep checking after big rain falls and shake excess water out of the buds. Also weezer. i noticed you always have massive plants man. Is this due to the way you top?? Fertalizer? or jus start real early??
