solar panels

now a day alot more people are using solar panels for energy
does anyone use them for growing? or even just in their house? i find them very interesting

I looked into them for my house, but to get a decent system it was going to cost a total of $50K or more for all the parts, instillation, etc. As my electric company doesnt pay me extra if i use less electricity then my panels are producing, they just keep the extra electricity that I produce.

dang thats crazy.
and its dumb the keep the extra. do they have storage things you can buy to store your energy? or is the energy always put back into the energy that powers everything and everyone

you can have batteries/inverter as part of the system
off the grid kind of house do this, they make things even more expensive
i'm thinking of of some DIY hot air solar panels, those can be quite cheap, but that's only for heat, not electricity
