Confused about cfl wattage

I read sumbody say that each plant needs 100w for the first plant u grow and then 50w for each additional plant. To me it doesnt make sense because if you have 100w of cfls evenly above 2 plants both plants will get the same light. It's not like wen u put multiple plants in 1 pot and they have to fight to absorb the things they neeed. A plant cant steal light like that.

You want 100 real wats per plant, the cfls usually are at like 26w=100 equivalence watts. So four per plant.

idk, 100 watts of cfl's per plant sure doesn't sound like much to me at all... i know i can grow say 2 niced sized plants under 250 watts of hps, and 250 watts of hps is way more than 250 watts of cfls, that is for sure.. the more the merrier is what i say about lighting, up to a point at least..
and i also disagree with that dude saying don't bother to mix and match k's for veg and flowering.. i think mix and matching it awesome to do, just make sure you have more of the k bulbs that is needed for each phase of growth, so more 6500k's for veg and more 2700s for flower.. :)

Right now I have a 55w 2700k, a 13w 2700k, and 2 26w 6500k on my 2 young plants (less than 3 weeks old). I've seen people do sum decent grows with 100-200w cfls online. I plan on gettin 2 more of the 26w 6500k SOON

Yea I dont work w cfls so idk about that rule- ive only seen that you want atleast 100w per lady. I would correct/mix the spectrums accordingly as stated by racer.

And yea the 100w per plant is just a min req.

And is it bad for me to keep adding more lights? And yesterday the timer got switched off so the lights were only off for like 1.5 hours instead of 6 and I jus kept it at the times its been on

has anyone seen those three hundred watt spiral CFL's at home depot? They're like 18" tall and screw into a normal(albeit heavyduty) bulb socket..

Doesn't hurt to add CFL's, remember each leaf is absorbing the necessary energy to perform photosynthesis, meaning you don't necessarily need them above or at the top...

nah, it's ok to keep adding more lights.. for instance, i'll start my seedlings under 2 23 watt cfl's, and after like two weeks or so, i'll move them under my 250 watt hps/ mh.. then once they get bigger again, i'll move them under my 4oo watter.. :)
you'll be ok with the timer being messed up for a day or so.. you don't want to be making a habit out of it though, and it's better it happened it veg then it happening in flower..

damn, no, but i do have 2 i think they are 150 watt spiral actual wattage cfl's that are like a fucking foot long, lol..

Just my two-cents, a good rule of thumb is to not mix kelvins too much. For normal vegging, just use 5000k-6500k. The 2700k is perfect for flowering. Like I said, it's just my two-cents, and mixing the kelvins won't HURT, but I feel as though you'd do better with all 6500k for vegging my dude

You can use as many CFL's as you would like as long as you keep temps where they are supposed to be, you can't have "too much light".

the way i like to look at things is to look to nature and see how she does things.. look at the sun.. does it only provide light in one spectrum, or does the suns output provide light in many many spectrums?? and look how good plants grow outdoors as opposed to indoors..
i've also read about people who use both mh and hps bulbs for flowering, and they have found that the plants that seemed to be in the middle of both lights ended up with the best results... again, this is only something that i've read, other than the nature thing that is..
