Question for the people who use the 2 week veg method

I know some of you like to do a 2 week veg then go right into flower from clone. For those of you who use this method can you please tell me what size pot you use for soil grows.

Can you use a 1 gallon pot from start to finish for a full 11 weeks ( 2 week veg and 9 week flower)? Seems like this would not be enough soil to me but I have not tried this method before. I know that 2 weeks vegging in 1 gallon wont create that many roots but can it handle another 9 weeks in flower? Seems like a stretch but what do I know. That's why I'm asking.

What would the best method be for vegging 2 weeks in soil? These are all 9 week phenos. Mainly kushes and skunks. This is what I've found so far:

1) one gallon from start to finish
2) one gallon then transplant to 2 gallon when flower (seems like extra work)
3) one and a half gallons from start to finish
4) two gallons from start to finish

Would be helpful to see which one is best. Thanks

Edit: Also, what are the basic yields you get from a 2 week veg? Just an estimate

1 gallon pot is going to limit your plant growth. I use 3 gallon currently but am upping it to 5 gallon.

So you guys would go with the bigger pots.

I asked this because I'm getting a lot of different answers. Some guy said he did an experiment using 1 and 2 gallon pots from start to finish with only a 2 week veg and 8 week flower. He said the one gallon pots were only slightly more root filled than the 2 gallon ones and that neither one was root bound.

Space is limited and 2 gallon pots are too big but they also have tall square ones that might work as well.

Thanks for your reply but I'm not exactly new at this. Just changing my method is all. That's why I'm asking :blsmoke:

If youre only going to veg for 2 weeks. 1 gallon pot is fine. Remember. You want a strong healthy root mass for flower. If you dont veg for long, a huge pot makes no sense.

Yes, this seems to be the consensus. Two weeks in a nicely filled 1 gallon pot will in no way fill the pot more than half way with roots. From my knowledge of flowering bushes I have always noticed that the roots don't grow as much during that time.

I used to veg for 5 plus weeks in a 1 gallon pot and the roots would fill that up nicely. When I transferred over to a 4 gallon pot to flower I noticed I always wasted a ton of soil because the roots would only fill the bottom portion of the pot.

I will start off with the 1 gallon pot and change it if I see any troubles.

Thanks for suugestions.

7 years later and my root mass still sucks. I veg for 3 weeks in the 1 gallon pot and transplant to a 2. Veg for another week then flower. Still can't grow roots for shit.

Maybe skip the trany go straight to 2...

Hows the yield with two week veg?

Im considering 1 or 2 gall for a SOG

I do a 4 week veg now. I try for 4 fat colas in each pot. 3/4 oz seems to be the average.

If I did a SOG I would stay in the 1 gallon pot and do a 2 week veg. Get 2 fat colas in each pot. But then you would need 36 pots to fill the tent and that is a bitch and a half. You could do 25 for better penetration but the yield may be less.

Yea I'm shooting for Abt 28-32 in the 4×4.

Prolly just fill my two hall bags half way on some and full on others see how it plays out

Best roots I have grown came from using Blumat drippers, smart pots, and soil or coco. Not as insane as some of the rdwc or aeroponics guys, but pretty solid. Looking forward to trying blumats in rockwool someday,

I use half gallon pots with a 2 week veg and I am pulling anywhere from 28-44g per plant strain depending of course, so far my lowest was 27 dry and it was a cookie cut

Maybe his clones are 10" tall with 6 branches on it and he uses 1k watts. My little 4" clones don't grow very fast.

With a 2 week veg, growing 1 big cola in a 1 gallon pot under a 600 watt would maybe net me 14 grams if I was lucky. I must be doing something wrong.

Hmm yes zip per gallon is the word.

Half is fine but the zip is the goal

If you are not doing autos I can help.
Buy some cheap plastic nursery plant bags. Punch them full of holes with a paper punch, except the top two inches.
The first bag can be about 4 inches across, second 6 inches across and at least one or two more each two inches wider than the previous.
Fill a container with fertilizer and dip your whole bags then let them drip dry for a minute or two before returning to their tray.
Observe the growth of the canopy, when the leaves reach the sides of the bags, it is time to pot up to the next size.
This method is a little work intensive the first two weeks but it makes an incredible root ball.

You can measure the ppm of the dipping solution after each plant to see how hot their bags are
