Realistically speaking, can I expect to harvest at least 1.5 oz with this setup?

Hi guys,

I started my own personal grow. I don't plan on selling at all, I just want to be able to supply my own weed. With the amount that I smoke, I only need about 1.5 to 2 ounces every harvest(3-4 months... does that sound right?) so I figure it shouldn't be toooo hard to reach but then again I have no idea.

I have a small grow area in my closet. Big enough for two plants side by side and cooling. I have 5 feet of vertical space, so I don't think that will ever be an issue for me if I stick to short/medium height strains. I will be lighting the area with 400 watts of CFLs, I have the area painted white, and the room's temperature fluctuates between 75 and 86. I'm currently growing some northern lights. So is my figure of 1.5-2oz at all realistic?

I beg to differ. 400 watts of cfl's is roughly 20,000-25,000 lumens. A 250 watt hps is about 29,000 I believe. Considering that I've grown with a 250 watt hps and gotten excellent yields, I'd say yes you can achieve that. I imagine you will get .5-1.0 oz per plant. The buds will be kind of airy, but it can be done.

Yeah the answers I see and read on the net are all very contradictory. A lot of people will just claim the exact opposite of another group of people so it's hard to find real info.

I have enough space for a couple more bulbs and was going to add some more to the bottom/sides once the plants get bigger so when it comes flowering time I'mm have about 30 000 lumens in the closet. If I changed my setup slightly I could fit a third plant in there but I'm not going to bother with that until this grow is done. If I veged for longer than usual would that increase my yield much? I don't really mind waiting.

1.5 to 2 zips off two plants is totally achievable, you just have to manage your grow carefully.

first grow i got 4 zips off of two plants, 5 gallon containers, 375 watts...i don't think you have to try very hard w 400 watts to get 1.5 zips

As long as you have good temps, good ph, you will get your goal easily.

totally can be done. People who say that CFLs produce "airy" buds have no experience with the lights. Currently I am producing buds that are fucking solid as a rock with large, 250 watt cfls. I think airy buds come from high heat and genetics. I will have to go take some pics of my buds i guess to show proof.

yeah dude my buds are always dense...dunno what is with all the CFL hate on here...is it cus we are growing buds equal to alot of people with HPS systems and they just don't want to believe it can be done with cfls which can be bought at wally world? whatever it is anyone who says CFLs cant grow bud is dead wrong.... check out this bud, far from airy

You must be shit at growing i get 8 oz of one plant with 1 600w HPS, With 400w cfl grown properly 2 plants and 5 feet of vertical space i recon you should pull 4 oz min dry.

Well just to let you know my grow cab is very small. About 4' tall and abbot 3' wide and 18" deep. I have one plant in there with 175w of cfl and I know I will get at least two oz if not more. Check it out in my sig if you'd like too. STAY HIGH!!!

This is really reassuring. That first guy got me pretty scared. I'm glad I can expect more than I originally wanted assuming I don't screw anything up.

When you start growing and looking online for advice it can get confusing. I'm no pro(I'm on my 3rd grow) but on grow forums everyone has on opinion. When I started I looked at a couple different sites and read many journals with setup's like I was considering and I used the consensus of what people said. Believe it or not, I have seen a guy harvest a pound only using CFL's with a 4-6 veg period, then flowering. With CFL's there are still a lot of people who think they are worthless, but they are wrong. You can hit your goal.
