Also, i know the more light the better, but for that size room (about 3'x3'x5.5') what would be the minimum amount of lumens necessary? i'll go above it, i just want to get an idea. So far i have 3, 42watters (putting out about 8000 lumes), i was planning on buying about 6 more, and possibly some 27watt bulbs as well.
Haha, i asked this question in my journal too. No response yet. But like ii said in mine, i heard the sun puts out 10000 lumes per sq/ft. So Im aiming for that. My grow area is about 4 sq/ft but im doing more of a SOG using 8 plants so i have less area to light. For you... I dont know i would say try to get at least 15000. For your whole box. Im no expert though, so someone else probably can answer better.

That sounds about right--i remember reading something, but i couldn't quite remember the exact number. i saw some blue and red CFLs, i'm thinking about getting some of those too. i think they're only about 15 watts or so, but is it blue = good for veg and red = good for flowering?

Ya, you got it cooler lights (blues) are better for the veg stage, and warm lights (reds) are better for the flowering stage. So if you plan on swiching to flower "soon" i would just get more red lights, but if your gonna veg for a while, get more blues and then more reds later on.

i won't be flowering anytime soon, they're only 11 days old lol. But i don't have anywhere i have to be, so i'll let them veg for a while before i switch to flowering. It's amazing, i just checked them, and they've grown even more since the last set of pics, which i took yesterday! i mentioned to my husband that it'll be cool to compare the pics and watch how they've grown. :)

Hey, i found what we were looking for. I knew it was about 10000 lumens per sq/ft for sunlight! lol

https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/723-things-know-about-lighting.html

It says somewhere between 7000-10000 is optimal. It also talk about what types of lights are best for veg and flowering stages.

Thank, Rope! i have some new pics, hot off the presses. i have no idea what strain these are, but one of them has a purple tint to it. Is that because i'm doing something wrong, or could it be the strain? Also, the bottom leaves seem to be kind of twisty--is this normal from trying to uncurl, or should i be concerned? Thanks for all your help, everyone, i typically have a BLACK thumb, so i'm a little antsy with my babies here. Please tell me what you think, do they look healthy? They're 12 days old today, 3 days after the first set of pics.

they dont look too bad at all. Just lay of the nutirents for a bit. is ther drainage holes in th bottem of th cups?? if not make some. when you transplat try to use high quality soil with lots of drainage. add extra perlite lots of it. get them on a good watering cycle soak them them let them dry out compleatly them soak them again. they like a good wet/dry cycle. oh yeah most importsnt be patient!! the seedling stage is a slow one. just relax its like growing any other plant

Awesome! i've only fed nutes one time, and it was 1/4 strength FF Big Bloom. There are holes cut in the sides of the cups, and i water about every 2 days or so. Have a ton of perlite for when i transplant to 3, 3-gallon pots. i don't think i'll feed them again until i transplant them. Does the purplish one look sick? It seems kind of small, and the purple color is worrying me. Also, are they sativa, indica, or is it too early to tell? Thanks everyone! :)

Exactlly what I was thinking about the drainage holes, also when the roots get a little bigger you dont want them in the white cups, you could just cover with something that is light proof. Roots hate light Also what matt said about letting them get dry in between each watering. When my plants get to about 4 or 5 nodes I let them ask for the water. The leaves will droop slightly and you will just know.....water today. Other than that I think everything is going great. You will have some nice big ladys in no time.

I deffinatly wouldnt give them any nutes, thats probably why the leaves are a little dissformed. Wait till they have at least 4 or 5 nodes or more.

agreed! thats exactly why your leave look that way . way too much Nitrogen. thats whats giving them that very dark purple coulor. it is also stunting them a bit. Guve them nothing but water for a WHILE

Great, thanks guys, that's really helpful. i have moisture meter, and i only water when it says dry, but i think i made a mistake by giving them the nutes so early. Lesson learned. The humidity level in their current grow box stays between 20-30%, is that ok? Also, when i transplant them, i will also be moving them upstairs to their designated grow room. Is there anything i should do to prevent shock to the plant, or will this not bother them?

I am betting Indicas if you got them from bagseed. Induca s are used for commercialk bud production cause of its high yields but it vert well could be a cross. wait till they grow up a bit and you can tell better

Yeah, since that one time it's been nothing but plain water all the way. The minute i poured it, i knew i shouldn't have.
