Lighting & electric bill/cops

Try to offset by reducing elsewhere. Line dry laundry, wash in cold water, turn off all lights when not in the room, turn off all applicances or unplug better yet (they carry what is called a phamton load - they are on even when turned off), wash only full dishwash loads, lower your thermostat by 2 degrees (that saves big on your bill), install a gray box (timer on the water heater - that saves us about $10 a month).
Also to add on to that list, this one saves you big $$ on electric bill, turn your hotwater down so you get like 5-10 mins hot water, you get a short shower but that all you need really.

While I am no electrician, I do not believe that you can just simply change the breaker, I think that you would have to re-wire it also. You can not exceed what the wires are rated for, or else things will get pretty hot.
You are correct, the correct way would be to rewire it and then get a breaker that is rated for what you install but you can install a 20amp inplace of a 15amp with no problems.
I use to work installing baseboard heaters in apartment buildings and we would sometimes have to install a bigger breaker to keep the curcuit from resetting and I did this well over a 100 times without any problems. So just go out and get a bigger breaker and you will be good to go!

Replacing all of your incandecents in your home with cfl's will make a huge differnce in your bill.
I actualy lowered my bill when I purchased my hps cause I took all of my small cfl's and changed all of my indecandecents out throughout my house. My bill lowered by 15.00 a month by doing this. Thats $180.00 a year!

Anything under 3000w really isn't worth worrying about. Especially if you have the plants night as your own, the chopper will have no reason to pick up an unusual heat source. They can only pick these up after midnight. Even then they'd need to fly over fairly regularly to monitor your night-time usage.

Yes, it's cheaper to grow during the night, but not by much. Your crop should more than cover the electric bill.

If you turn your hotwater down to 5-10 mins of hot water, you save atleast $50-$100.00 per month where i live anyways

I dont know what your paying but that's sounds alittle insane as lol my water heater costs me no more than 15.00 to 25.00 a month if that as mine is a gas water heater.

i live in canada, and it lowered my power bill from $250.00 month to just under $190.00 i live in a 1500sq ft house, with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. so thats pretty good, considering i could put 1-2 1000w hps/mh in each room since ive done that :)

Good advice, it's surprising how much the little things mount up.

I'm fantasizing here,
but if you lived in a
apartment duplex with
a family of 2, with 2700 watts or 1800 watts
for as long as 16 hours would that
give out a red flag?

Hmmm personally I'm very very sick and tired of seeing posts asking this exact same question.

My question is simple,
with a 600w system and
10 150 cfls (for side lighting)
which adds up to 1800 watts.

Would that induce suspicion
in a duplex?

The 2700 isn't necessary as i was thinking how mh and hps
for both stages would be the best, but wouldn't be worth
the risk if a risk was presented.

cost me $1.85 a month to run my grow, with a 150w cfl on 18/6, and an intake fan. it works wonderous, ive grown 3 plants, i dont have much room so i can only grow 1 at a time. every plant i have grown has been healthy, and had a good yeild regardless of using cfls for flowering. i grew some strawberry cough my second time around and i still cant get over how high the shit got me for my cheap ass grow setup, although its cheap its fucking nice. its semi-professional and i spent under 50 dollars. plus some household items i had around too, so probably about 100 dollars total but some items i used had more sentimental value than being worth money..

I dont care who ya are..............there is no way a power company can tell what room your power consumption is comming from unless they go out and examine the meter and run a source pick up to detect power flow.

Dont try to run a bigger breaker on standard wiring. Codes exist for a reason........if you run more juice thru the same size wire you will over power the wire and start a fire.

i run 2 1000 hps/mh lights
and 3 400 w hps this is a lot of juice but during winter its only 225.00 a month. i have a huge home so be smart. no 700 foot house is going to use 2000 KwH a month.
the electric company doesnt know how big your house is. Your power draw is no biggie. Use HPS 600 for flowering its the most efficient and you will get the most watts for the watts
