if you want the latest and greatest in hydro, then i suggest you look at IWS flood and drain systems, they are monstrous.So now that I got your attention how about telling me your thoughts on which is best and why. I'm trying to decide on a rig. Planning on using some bubbleponics for moms. But I have two tanks I want to use for a main set up.
So time to brag your asses of about your set up!
Help me commit to a technique and go with it.

I am running 3 different systems right now under one 8 bulb Bad Boy HO T 5: Air Pot, High Pressure Aero and Flood & Drain using an outboard rez. I highly recommend APs if doing soil, but if looking at simple aero then F & D using lava rock is the tits. Rock Wool gets too wet, so you can't feed the plants as often as they could otherwise feed. The IGS -011 timer is perfect for this method as you can quickly change on/off times to fit the volume of the table you are flooding. An outboard rez is much easier to maintain pH, change nutes, top off, etc.
The pics are 2 weeks old (large plant is now 32" tall) using materials on hand, but if I was starting from scratch, I would get an aquarium waterfall pump, and hang it over the rim. Using a deeper table like this helps keep moisture in between feed cycles, but so does the lava rock. The combination is like a mini-rains forest. Note the pvc tubing: I used this when I did low pressure cloning.
This shot was taken Monday. Today it is another 4" taller, ~ 34". Every node has 2 side branches each 10"+ long.

It looks like your soil and flood and drain are kicking the shit out of your HP aero. Or maybe the aero was started just now?
Those big plants look very healthy, but I don't think you're gonna get strong side branching by just letting it grow straight up under a fluoro like that.

That's an easy on. I'm in a budget and they were free. I'm tryin to get a decent grow going. Then when I get enough cash I plan to go for the right/best set up.

Thank you for all the help! I think I've decided. For my first grow I will be using ebb & flow. The local delivery service I'm currently using to get my meds is a family run business. The father has the "green thumb" and offered to walk me through my first grow. He convinced me of the ebb&flow using Rockwool medium. In the PNW we get our fair share of power failures. It wasn't hard to convince me that the E&F using Rockwool was a great way to combat this problem. I should be getting started soon so watch for my journal.

Just picked up a nice Jack Herrer clone. Only problem is it was started in soil. I want hydro. She was already fat and stocky, so I couldn't pass her up. Does anyone have thoughts on weather I could transfer it to loose Rockwool? Would that be too much stress? Should I grow it in soil and just clone for my hydro? I will take picks tomorrow.

You can go soil to hydro.. it's harder to do the other way around. I've never done it, but it can be done!

I like your second idea better. Keep the two separate.
If it's already got a thick stem, you can bet there are a nightmare of roots in that soil you would have to rinse. That'll shock dirt girl for sure...
Grow her out at your leisure in the soil and take cuttings when she's bigger... instant fresh clones for your hydro that you made yourself. What could be finer?

I use 4 1000w XXXL hoods
I use 6 buckets with drip rings
Two air pumps...#5...#3,,,,
60gl....res
I have had plants with over 12ozs....average aleast 8ozs per plant

Check out my latest journal in my sig, I use 2x 125w CFL's and 1x 90w LED (UFO), this is a single seed of AK-48 Vegged for 4 weeks and now been flowering for 5 weeks. My previous grow in the same space but not ScrOG yielded just over 3 Oz that's with a bug problem right at the end and having to chop earlier than usual... which sucked but the bud was pretty decent to smoke, did the job lol (Pineapple Express and Super Lemon Haze).
and my personal favorite hydro method is Hempy Buckets which I'm using at the moment and plan on sticking with. I've tried NFT, Flood and Drain and not really got on with them 
as for the good points: it's impossible to over water them, there is a constant supply of nutes/fresh water in the res for at least 5 days in veg and 3 days in flower. I've never had ANY problems with PH, lockout, salt build up etc. and I haven't brought a PH pen or anything :/ probably the only trouble free hydro system that you don't have to worry about getting the 'science' down... and its great 'cause you hand water so if you love growing you get to spend more time with the plants. They're ridiculous cheap to make and maintain.
I may not yield the most but for a small set-up and only having the ability to use CFL's due to space and heat issues I think I'm doing a pretty good job lol.
My cab is about Wx100cm Hx60cm Dx35cm (give or take a few here and there) so bearing in mind this is a micro grow I think the yield was pretty decent!

Total setup cost for this was about £200 thats including carbon filter, inline fan, Lights medium pots nutes etc...

Very nice! I'm currently running both soil and DWC. I have a nice Jack Herrer in the DWC, Sour Diesel & Purple Mystery in soil. They will be 60 days on May 9th. The Jack & Purple will be ready to harvest, but the Diesel I'll let go around 70 days or so. I've got a question for you. Do you flush your plants? This will be my first hydro harvest, so I'm not sure how exactly to go about flushing them. I know the sell all the different commercial flushing products. I'm wondering if those are a must. I try to use as little chemicals as I can. I'm using Jungle Juice nutes, and willow water. If you're not familiar with willow water, it is made by cutting small willow branches into 1/2" pieces and soaking them in water. It makes a tea colored water that is truly amazing, increases root growth 30%+, cures sick plants, and is just all around miracle water for plants.If you could fill me in on your flushing techniques I'd really appreciate it. I'm wondering if doing a water change and using plain willow water without any nutes for the last week or so would work. I really am clueless as to how flushing hydro plants works.

2.5 Gallon bucket 1" cylinder air stone done... easy and great results with plants up to 4-5 feet high. About 8 bucks for each site for materials..
Note: I bought BLACK so I don't have to paint, wrap or any other BS to light proof.. although never had issue with homedepot orange or lowes grey neither for light issues without wrapping.

If plant numbers don't get you all hot and bothered, I'd highly recommend doing a nice VSOG (like I does) - got a smidge under 5 pounds last run, was hoping for 5.5 this run but I'm not impressed with this pheno I'm running and am thinking 5 is more realistic.So now that I got your attention how about telling me your thoughts on which is best and why. 4 600s (only three on at any time to mimic a light mover), CO2 (although my room is intake/exhaust, it's complicated). Top drip DTW coco, plants are fed for 60 seconds every four hours.
All that being said, I fucking LOVE the simplicity of E&F if doing horizontal.............just a superb, trouble free growing method (and I still use for my moms and clones).
