Jack the ripper question!

Hello all. I have a jack the ripper about 3 weeks from seed on it's 5th node set. I noticed in the past week that the ripper's fan leave stems were turning purplish-reddish. Can anyone tell me if this genetic or a nutrient deficiency/lockout?

im sure you would have to show a pic and give some info about your growing method (medium nutes etc..)

I can't give a pic. My camera was broken about a month ago. If you can tell me how to post pics from an iPhone I'd be happy to.

But the plant in general is looking great no signs of yellowing or slowing down for that matter. Her main stalk is green as can be and her leaves super healthy. The only thing is the purpling on the fan leaf stems. My new York 47 is also doing it, so I thought it might just be me the grower.

I do organic, right now I'm not using any nutes. My plants are in solo cups with ff ocean forest and ff light warrior. With a little bit of mycorrihaze.

I'd bet that it's just genetic. A number of Subs strains I've grown have had purple fan leaf stems.

purple leaves is also caused my low temps. whats the temps around you?

Purple petioles generally indicates a phosphorus deficiency, especially likely if two different strains are doing it. They're likely root bound which further compounds the issue.

So Ill definitely transplant them into bigger containers as soon a s possible. In the meantime I
Guessing I should make a tea? I was thinking some jamacian bat guano (1 10 1) and ewc?

Any advice Wolverine?

I wouldn't go that heavy on P, they're still vegging. They've just used up all that's in the soil most likely, though I say this without seeing them. I'd just give them a transplant asap. The soil mix you're using should give them enough juice for a few more weeks after transplanting.

I second this^^^^^.....definitely no jamaican guano yet maybe mexican if you don't have soil to transplant yet......but transplanting is the best option if indeed they are root bound.....what size pots are they in??

They're on the fifth node in party cups.

Cool. I'll definitely take them out of the cups and put them in some 1 gallons. But like I said, everything on them looks perfect other than the petioles and they only have a slight hint of reddish purplish on top of the actual stem. But I'll transplant and see what that does for me. Hmmm, they must eat phosphorus pretty fast they've only been in he cups for a couple of weeks. I guess it was the mycorize, I love love love that stuff.

i grow chemically, i cut out nitrogen around week 4 with 2 weeks flush towards the end. I also get the red veins with spots of red on the stems.
the top buds closest to the light take on a pink color.

I'm not a big fan of chemicals my self. I like a nice organic fade, the taste is unreal. I'm not to that point, my babies just popped out of the ground a few weeks ago. But thank you

Definitely better. Since I transplanted the leaves have perked up a bunch and new growth is very vibrant green. No signs of purple yet, but we'll see

i wouldnt worry too much about it man ...

mine do just the same ...


ours seem to be around the same stage and mine r doing the same as well, but mine is a clone and it did last time as well with no bad results ...
