Outdoors in Oregon

I just became a legal patient a few days ago, and while I have years of experience as an indoor grower, I would LOVE to grow outdoor next year. Does anyone know what strains perform best in this region? Any help would be great. FYI: I'm in eastern Oregon

What is your first frost date? That's a big one... where am need them out of the ground before October 1st or you can grow in a greenhouse and your variety will expand.

my earliest finisher this year was "rainwreck", aka afwreck. trainwreck x afgooey.

it was ready by 9/22.

i can give you a few free clones, but they are looking rough and only barely entering re-vegetative stage right now.

Being here in Eastern Oregon, we usually don't have to worry about freezing until mid october, with lots of sun and rain is never a real issue:P Thanks Uncle buck, I'll keep that in mind:) I did get a kandy kush and ATF clones from someone in the network, also 4 seeds of medicine woman, so I have something to get my indoor started with. I haven't met any patients who grow outdoors, probably because they are renting their homes. Since I own mine, and have never felt this free to grow, I can't WAIT to get something going outside in the spring. It's truly amazing how good it feels to not be afraid anymore:)

yeah, if you are at elevation where the air is drier that changes the game.

lucky you.

I would say early finnishing strains are still the best for the beaver state no matter which side of the cascades one lives on unless you have a greenhouse. Shishkaberry, willies wonder, violet delight, afgooey,Mendo purp, jack the ripper, agent Orange,Headband, black domina,Northerberry,p91,the white,Dr.Funkenstein are all strains I have done or seen done with amazing results in Oregon. Most of the listed strains I have done myself in the valley with great results.

Thank you, Breeder. Great info! Cheers to all of you who replied! I was also thinking about Texada Timewarp, just because I know that's a popular outdoor in BC and we basically have the same climate.

What part of eastern Oregon you in? I am in the Baker area. I had a trainwreck, G13, blueberry, Jack Herer, and a couple of cannatonics outdoors here this year. Trainwreck came down September 25th with about 60% amber trichs, blueberry October 7th 50-60%, Jack, G13 and canatonics came down October 15th at about 40% amber.

We do get frost here, in August many times but if you can keep them warm its dry enough I don't worry about mold much! A greenhouse is a great investment around here...

Still have all of these strains and more going (super silver haze, ice, JR, northernberry. Maybe we can do some trading some time.

I think a greenhouse would be counter productive for a guerrilla grower, but some clear plastic and pvc pipe w/ zip ties works great for early frost prevention.

I'm in Pendleton, which is basically the same climate as Baker, we just don't get any frost until October or so. But good call on the simple greenhouse, geekmike, I think that's the way I'm going. It will also keep my girls more out of sight. I'm legal, but I'd rather no one know about what I'm doing. My goal is to find a strain that has a good balance of quality and yield. I've been thinking about maybe two of each of a good outdoor purple, jack the ripper and texada timewarp. I feel like a kid in a candy store, with being able to grow outside now. All these years of reading about great outdoor strains, but never able to do it myself:( Boxorain, I'm always up for some trading. I've got Kandy Kush and ATF going right now. Pretty small, but in a month or so, I'll be cloning. I'll keep you updated:) And I didn't forget about you breeder. When I get some Texada cloned, you're first in line:) Thanks everyone for the help
