Why do my nugs have little 'towers' growing on them

Ya, so I was pretty much ready to harvest this wkend. Most trichs were cloudy and a few ambers.... Until now. A few days ago I started to notice these little flowers (towers) growing on my flowers. Has anyone seen this before?

These are appearing on 90% of my buds and all these new pistils have clear trichs....Should I wait another week? As of today, its the eighth week of flowering....

I don't know, I've seen a lot of bud pics the past couple months and haven't seen this... Thanks for the help peeps... Strangeness.

what this guy said. different strains get it for different reasons, but the heat and over-ripeness are the main culprits that i've noticed. i've been running a particular strain of pineapple chunk for a bit and she foxtails before she looks done. i've learned to just chop her a bit earlier because excessive foxtailing makes lots of sticks in the bud and they poke holes in the joint.

to the op, your plant isn't ready so i'd look into seeing if there's a heat issue. some strains just do this. in your case i'd definately keep an eye on the trichs. if the foxtailing gets out of control you might want to chop it a bit early to retain the integrity of the bud structure. it's up to you.

i saw that this can happen at the end of flowering and if you put it into darkness for a week it finishes thebud quick and stops those "foxtails"

You can still smoke the fox-tails tho, they're just stacked calyxes

do not do what this guy says. putting the plant in darkness for a week and messing up the light cycle is a horrible idea. this will only stress the plant and cause more weird problems. keep it on its natural light cycle the whole time. i assume yours is 12/12.

Obviously from 8 post and your comment you have no idea what your talking about. No offense of course. But the dark period if the last week of flowering and has no ill effect of the plant. Actually it helps her to realize she is at the end of the road and gives you all she has. Yes it does stress the plant but only the last week and this is good to do but only at the END. gezo flipo people read.

I have had fox tailing but definitely wasnt from the heat. I would say probably over ripeness or maybe hitting them with too much p&k too late. IMO when the plant is finishing you need to take away the fertilizer to get it to really start to ripen or she will just keep trying to stack flowers to catch that pollen. Really im not sure but I also think its got a lot to do just with the strain.

well if your humidity is that high to allow mold to grow...thats an issue

New growth, that's all. That plant is still looking very young, looks like a sativa strain which is not an 8 weeker finisher, more like 10-13 weeks. I can tell by the sun-leafs cause I had a banana sour diesel look just like that, that ran 11+ weeks. My lights werent the brightest, but I supercropped it too, and any amount of training your plant In my opinion will add more time to finish. Thats why mine took so long too.....I'm not dissin' your skills but, do not cut anytime soon or you will be angry at yourself. But I will say that is not anywhere near done. You may see even amber trics at early life, Its growing and will replace those trics with new growth as it ages. Nice plant though sir, good luck.

Eyedots...I have been trying to harvest some BigBud, but the bitches keep growing. I had to super crop the buds to keep the canopy down and the foot long buds now have several sub-buds running from them. I am at 10 weeks now, trying to force finish. The new growth keeps me from chopping. I had some heat issue earlier ,so this may be the reason, but it could be the genetics.
In my case, the new growth is getting super frosty and the older buds still have a good trich mix, so I am running with it. I will put some pics up at lights out later. I say no worries if they are producing.

Page 84 step 3 in Jorge's Bible he says, " You may want to give plants twenty four hours of total darkness before harvest. Many growers do this and say the buds are a little more resinous afterward. "

darkness does not cause mold, humidity and moisture do, you can get mold on your plants when they have 18 hours of light a day. the only thing the dark does is not dry out things, like when you get dew in the morning, the sun(light) dries it off but it stays there throuought the night.

to the OP, i also agree that the plant dosent look fully matured yet, give it some time and maybe it will grow into them "Foxtails"

Nah that's not a sativa strain, looks like a hybrid tbh.

Plants usually have one last big burst of new growth before they're ready, keep a close eye on your trics.
