it's not that hard to grow more than one strain as long as you make sure you have a way to identify everything and keep track of your flowering times. i was growing C99, LSD, haze skunk & even slow as molasses highland thai in my first grow and threw a bunch of new stuff in when i pulled the C99s when the haze skunk was still in early flowering. i've never believed in that warning. the only issue is keeping your strains close to the light, so i used to rearrange impromptu shelf units out of pieces of wood and various size containers. growing more than one strain at a time isn't that much different from a perpetual harvest grow where you keep adding new gear as you harvest old stuff in 3 or 4 stages.
i think that whole "uniform garden" thing applies more to hydroponics where you can't raise & lower your plants.
you can see some upside down flower pots under the 3 gallons and new gear sitting on top of the old when i was starting the seconds harvest. (the plant on the far left is a C99 male). i didn't have any problems with this grow really other than starting flowering too early and getting C99s no taller than 2 1/2 feet and a lower yield than i wanted. i just threw everything together & went for it. i learned a few things like waiting longer to start flowering and that i have a tendency to overwater as i've always kept the surface moist until i bought a moisture meter and in the second grow, that it was probably the cold that stunted a few of my beans into refusing to pop, so i sprung for a heating mat & moisture dome for the next go.
i'm inclined to think if you just give your plants light, water & air, they should be able to take care of themselves unless you do something really abusive to them. they grow very well on their own in nature after all. i'm sure i could have done better if i took care of more details, but i STILL got way better smoke just screwing around there than i've been able to buy on the streets since the 80s!
maybe my gals were so happy because their soil had plenty of mushroom compost, chicken compost, earthworm castings, vegan ferts & were watered with some kelp juice too on a regular basis and i was in the room every day stressing their stems to make sure they had strong stems with good nutrient uptake.
i know it sounds crazy, but i think plants know when you love them. LOL either tat, or i was just giving them lotsa CO2 breathing on them, talking to them & getting right up under them skirts & sniffing the silk every chance i got... even catpissy LSD in there somewhere.
if you have an indica and adequate odor control, why not go for it? more smoke than you need is definitely better than not enough. trust me, i've been budless around half a year by now. i'm living vicariously up in here.
bubba kush is supposed to be really good as far as indicas go and if you decide to breed some seeds, C99 up in that will only be better. the only thing that keeps me from growing the indica freebies i get is that i don't want my space funked up like it's been with lowdown mystery (SERIOUSLY FUNKY!!!), white castle & kushberry. otherwise, i'd grow it just to have it in case.
i'll have more to say about trippy gear by next summer hopefully. i'm expecting jack's cleaner at the very least to give haze skunk some serious competition in the quality department and i have several other potentially trippy strains i'll be testing, but i expect laughing buddha to be nice too. that could easily make my top 5 if it has off the charts euphoria.
when you're ready for those, everything i've read about jack the ripper & killing fields tells me you might really like those. i would except for their names, but 50% ripper jacks cleaner 2 ought to be nice enough in it's own right as both of it's parents are trippy & TGA is possibly the most loved breeder out there even if he doesn't play the cannabi$ cup game.
i say, if you don't have any use for the BK33 and aren't going to gift it, toss it in some dirt & see what happens and if worse comes to worse, cut it down early for some "right now" smoke if it causes a problem, but i just don't see any plant causing a problem that can't be fixed. if you pay attention to your gear, the worst that can happen is that you spot balls starting to sprout on a fem you've got to pull. otherwise, it's just fun to take care of the ladies.
really, the WORST problem i've had is my pain in the ass neighbors & landlord, but i'm working on fixing THAT problem & think i know where i'll be getting back into the nature game. just like cooking, weed is so much better when you're the one taking care of it. it's so exciting watching it grow into bundles of sticky joy & smelling it in it's freshest form.
oh shit! i think i just popped a boner!
