When should i count the weeks of flower.

Im a little confused about when to start counting the weeks of flower. Should I start counting the weeks as soon as I put in 12/12 or after it shows sex.

Usually the start of flowering is counted from the time the plant is switched to 12/12. Real flowering doesnt actually start for another couple of weeks. The plant spends the first two weeks stretching in a phase of explosive growth.

i always start when it shows flowers .. usually 1 or2 weeks after i change the lights .. but its just a guideline ...

It starts when your plants are beginning to produce buds not when you switch the lights. If it takes 2 weeks to start budding on a 9 week strain, you will be at 12/12 for 11 weeks.

i put plants into 12/12

I count two weeks of a transitional period, when the plants are in 12/12 mostly stretching and baby buds forming, after 2 weeks of 12/12 i count flowering, so if a plant is an 8 week strain, i give it 2 weeks transition, and then 8 weeks flowering

Nice i was looking for a thread like this , i switched mines a week a go and i dont see shit(newb eye). I vegged them for 5-6 weeks and was gettin a lil worried( my 1st grow). I was thinking my bulb was trash or light leak , something. But now i'll what another week beofre i hit the panic button. Thanks all!

I have yet to see a strain finish in the catalog time if I start counting from the day I switch to 12/12.
If it's not flowering (and preflowers don't count) flowering hasn't started.

He basically said it all. There is nothing 'carved in stone' when it comes to breeders flowering times vs actual flowering time in ones particular garden. So many variables involved.

i've read the responses from several seed breeders over the years, and all have said that they start counting from when they show sex. the number of days that they state for flowering is an average of when THEY would cut them. what i've found over the years is that using their number of days for flowering is about 10 days or more away from where i like to cut them (mostly cloudy trichs).

Yea because when I look up a grow on YouTube they'll be like "this is my plant 3 weeks into flower" and their would be buds already showing. I would be like c'mon how they get bids that fast after 12/12!

Yea I got the DNA genetics Connie Chung in 12/12 since October 18, it started showing her pistels last week and I think a cola at the top. Not at grow journals on her so im just going by hope.

i count from the day i flick to 12/12, but this is from clones, white rhino is around the 8 week flower, and mine are normally done at 9 weeks.
