Yield Estimate Confusion

Hey guys,
I'm a huge newbie, just trying to gain information to possibly start a small grow in one of my closets.

Anyway, I've been trying to come up with an estimate of my yield, and something is confusing me - On this site it gives a list of different strains and their approximate yields, it says that 'The approximate yield expected from them is around 1 lb per 1000W light per cycle'

Does this mean that if I have a 1000W light, I can expect 1 lb per grow cycle per plant? That seems crazy high to me, I think I'm interpreting it wrong. Any help would be awesome.

thanks

That's crazy high for someone who is a novice at this... Expect about 2-5 ounces per plant under a 1000 watt.

yes,that is what it means
You can actually get more, but it depends how its grown
Damn, haha.

Word, okay. That's in line with my expectations. My light will be a bit less, i'll be using a 400w HPS. I also have a bunch of 25w daylight CFL bulbs, around 15 of them. Would it be a good idea to line the sides of my closet with these lights to create more even lighting, or would the varied light sources be confusing for the plants?

if everything is perfect .. you can do it sure ... as a novice .. id say the same as aquashift .. but probably around 2 oz ..not much more .... that is IF your plants survive all the mistakes you make ... lots of things happen bro

happy growin

You just never know until harvest.. no matter if its the same strain or different. Just grown the plant the best you can and the rest is up to it.

You can also just lie or provide false info like most here when your weight is when wet, or with roots or maybe all the fan leaves when you weigh. Many outrageous claims of yield are not dry smoke-able weight which is much less then those previous stated weights. So careful when someone posts "I got 1.2lbs off a single plant" on taking it for gospel.

I dont know where yall get ur numbers from, but i got a 1/2 lb from a 400 watt on my first grow
and had over fert problems along with it
a couple ounces off a 1000 watt is ridiculous

I wouldn't line the closet with them. CFL need to be close to help out, with in inches of the plant. So your best option is to hang them down to get the lower growth some extra light.

never ever expect high
expectations and there horrible shortcomings...

id expect 2-6 ounces for u as a noob
that being said
do not make expectations for nething more than a 7g bag
you will be dissapointed

and use those cfls for undergrowth m8

Ok, sick. I'm sort of envisioning an adjustable light rig where I have the CFLs hanging a few feet down off the HPS' reflector rack, so that I can move it all up as one piece, keeping the lights close to the plant throughout the entire growing process. That'd help out, correct?

Yeah, I'm not really expecting much. I have a few friends who have done this kind of grow before and have gotten decent results, so hopefully with the information I can gather here and also them helping me out in person, I can avoid a disastrous first run. Fingers crossed, anyway.

How would I position the CFLs to deal with undergrowth?

my first grow after doing some revision and taking it easy with a 600 watt was 18oz from 6 plants.
think i still have pics of them, ill look!
this was my first ever grow,
if a strain says yield is 1lb per 1000w it usually mean to expect that from however many plants i put in be it 4 or 8 ie overall yield.

Looks good man! I'd be insanely pumped if my first grow turned out like that.

So if i had one or two plants, i would expect to yield roughly the same as 4 plants in the same grow area? What are the benefits to growing more plants, then?

It would take 2 plant longer veg time to fill up the space
Using 4 would cut that time in half, meaning quicker flower and harvest
Make sense???

Ahh, okay - So theoretically 2 plants can make as much bud as 4 plants, but it takes more time in veg for them to get big enough for that? Got it, thanks man. This forum rules so hard.
