What a crock of shit. The US government shouldn't be involved in half of those. The other half are lies. It'd take over two hours to debunk all those.

If you want, I could write on one a day.

Everyone pays taxes, can't think of a single person that doesn't pay some kind of a tax.

So i guess everyone is entitled to use all those things as much as he or she would like.

Lots of taxation will fix everything, for the politicians and the rich that is.

I really loved #6, as if the police give a shit if someone is going to kill you, that is none of their concern nor is it even in their job description to prevent crime or help you in any way. the police persons job is to investigate crimes and arrest criminals, they are not protectors of any kind. Judges have already ruled on this.

and #12, really? You can't have clean air without taxation? really? I think someone didn't really think this list through.

SS isn't a tax.

Personal opinion.

Many of the things on this list are bullshit. The reason I say that is because they ride under the assumption that it wouldn't exist without the taxes being paid for the government to provide. Case and point: clean air and water.

I have to agree, at least half the list is bullshit....I started rebuking each one and got to #50 or so and thought it was stupid and no point in rebutting each point, that would be just as childish as the list itself. There is really no arguing with such logical fallacies. The government doesn't clean all the airs and the water because of taxes that we pay. Police don't protect you, they are mobile secretaries that show up after the fact, If you call the police to your house your a fucking dumbass, even if you are a victim, and no thats not an OPINION. If its an opinion please tell us how the police COULD help you AT ALL?

I could go on and on.

Maybe I am an exception and it might sounds ridiculous if I put it out and argue this point for point but A LOT of these things I don't do or haven't done and would never do, including even such minor things on this list as use city water. So the whole point of this list is a cheapshot basically to say people say they don't believe in taxes YET look at all the things they do! GEE GOLLY WHAT A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!"

Well I for one do almost none of this shit and the government has never "helped" me and doesn't give two shits about me and the same goes for you because the government doesn't give two shits about your ass and don't be fooled otherwise. You can get almost all of this shit without government or taxes and much of it we'd have otherwise without government or taxes.

Deprave, my stupid cell phone isn't allowing me to like you! Oh well. I think the same but didn't feel like this list was worth that much effort.

Looks like about 15% of the list the OP provided actually supports his assertion. As the others have already pointed out, the other 85% would exist through the private sector, would be more efficient and the services/benefits they provide would cost us far less in the end.

I guess the unintended point that he must be trying to make is, we can safely cut the government by 85%, which is exactly what many of us have been saying for quite some time. Obviously, it won't happen any time soon, but it is a strong argument. Well done, OP.

Why? Because you say so? If the listing is so wrong then why isn't anyone bothering to offer actual facts or proof debunking it?
I thought I was being very generous by saying 15% was better off being handled by the government. Rather than me listing how each of the items could easily be handled by the private sector, since it's so obvious that like the other posters stated, it's a waste of time to do so, why don't you back up the original claim of the OP... give us a common sense argument why almost any of those on the list COULDN'T be handled by the private sector. I'll concede anything like military and police and a few others, but how about the rest?

2 things you can do if you want to pay taxes:

1-make any money for any reason
2-buy any good or service from anyone

Why is there a tax on every single thing in our country? Can anyone name something in the legal regular economy that isn't taxed?

Lets try mutlocos plan. Start by getting rid of all traffic laws regulations and stop lights. My uncle owns a tow truck and needs more business

The private sector generally only picks up tasks that are profitable. With that in mind, sure, the private sector could take over some of the duties listed - but they have no incentive to do so... And so steps in the government, to execute tasks that people want and that the private sector does not produce. On that list, I see weather warning systems... What incentive is there for a private entity to commission such a program?

Also, you have to consider conflicting interests. If our water supply is privatized, for example, a quality water supply is more costly to produce and maintain than one that meets minimum standards. It is in the consumers interest to have a quality water supply, but a private entity's best interest is to maximize profits - potentially at the expense of water quality. A government entity does take into account costs, but the government is not left with the prospect of balancing conflicting interests (between quality and profitability). As an Oregonian, I like quality water...
