10x greenhouse strains is just asking for trouble. they do seem to have some good strains, but terrible quality control issues like hermies that i see in at least half of the reports on that gear. i'm eager to test their lemon haze, but ONLY as a freebie to see how it compares to my favorite strain, so far, high quality seeds' haze skunk. someone in a thread on that breeder said they had bad results with a strain, but i've had EXCELLENT viability in all three packs of HxS i've bought and was happy with the price on those.
nirvana is going to give you the most bong for your buck on the cheap front, but they aren't going to embarrass breeders like TGA & sannies that have a rabid following and for a few more dollars, mandala has a great variety of strains from stank dank hashberry for fans of that kind of bud to 8 miles high which is in my top 3 strains for now and is the most 24/7 friendly of the three and his gear is almost impossible to fuck up. i've yet to see anyone having anything bad to say about mandala and 5 years ago, he and barney were the TGA & sannies of their day at overgrow
I agree that 10x greenhouse is a bad idea. I did that already. I bought a 10pack of some cheap strain they had for my 1st grow. I forget what it was but it came out to like 4-5 a bean. so i couldnt resist.
The only thing that really pissed me off about them was that the high didnt match the description & the phenos varied wildly. It was all the same strain but i promise you it looked similar to the pic i have now in my grow journal (some REALLY tall, some REALLY short). At least now i expect to have all different heights as i purposely bought 3 sativa dom's and 3 indica doms...so i could separate them between lights. When i grew the GHS strain I only had one light so obviously the wide range of height caused problems.
Not that I held my breath but the yield (obviously) didnt match up to the guarantees (they claim 800-900g per 1000w indoors all the time in their descriptions. I got more like 1/3 of that dried.)
It seems like GHS sends out f2's or really unstable strains. Theres still a great chance that you can find something special so yeah. i still want to use them from time to time but im not ready to commit a whole grow to them again.
I hear that alot about nirvana (most bang for your buck) so im definitely getting some of their strains. im not sure what they are absolutely KNOWN for like Seedsman is for Skunk #1 but ill figure it out.
haze skunk huh? how good is it? just curious as ive never had any of their gear.
Mandala is another breeder ive heard lots of good about and not really anything bad. The only put off is they only sell regs but since i now have two grow spaces (independent veg and flower areas) i might as well suck it up and do it.
The 8miles high sounds very appealing as ive always wanted a 24/7 type smoke. I love sativa type highs but not a fan of the racyness and most of their strains specifically state they aren't racy. so that might will probably go on the list.
sorry for the stoned ramble but you've been a lot of help.
Cheap beans don't make em bad people like serious seeds are greedy no matter how good there genetics are if you pollinate a female your getting 1000,s of seeds and selling them at £70 for 6 fems is stupid even when nirvana and greenhouse seem cheap there still being greedy £20 for 5 fems even though there endless have hundreds and thousands of seeds and can make thousands at anytime
well said. As long as you know what you're doing being a seed breeder for cannabis has got to be one of the most profitable jobs in the cannabis industry. Those guys make bank i dont give a fuk how you look at it.
Imagine if you vegged 2 plants for 8wks and let them pollinate under a 600-1000w set up? I once got 300 beans on a project i did myself with just 1 2ft plant and i didnt pollinate strictly for seeds. i decided to grow some bud on it too so it could have easily been double/triple that if i didnt prevent the whole plant from getting knocked up. just sayin.
if a breeder like serious sells 1000 fem seeds they net 20,000 (if they go for $20 a pop) before cost. Not bad right? if you ask me its more profitable than the actual growing of the flowers (factoring in cost, risk, return, ease of profit, etc)
It is borderline greed when you consider they (serious seeds) could charge $7 a piece and still make a whopping $7000. thats a lot of $$$ for one seed harvest.
Im not sure how many beans could be produced per m2 but I gotta imagine tens of thousands and up.
