Kessil Lights - Does anyone have stats on these?

What's the PAR value like on these? The H150 is only 36 watts of actual power draw so I'm finding it hard to justify a $250 price tag....

That's almost $7/watt.... compare that with Lighthouse Hydro's 500 watt panel (306 watt actual power draw) for $539.95, and you're looking at $1.76/watt....

If $500 worth of kessil lighting works better than $500 of Lighthouse Hydro, I'm game; but I can't seem to find any stats on PAR or Lumens to make an informed decision.

I wouldnt rely on Par value or Lumens when choosing an LED. Its all about the Spectrum, Lens and design of the light. Check out Haight, Apache, Hydro-Grow, and even some of the University research going on. Its actually some pretty interesting reading. After researching LEDs (for months now) and trying to go inexpensive (Which are trash to be honest) I finally bit the bullet and spent some cash on a GOOD LED and all I have to say is that my 600W HPS is going on EBay today!

I ended up buying a Hydro-Grow Penetrator Pro and I couldnt be happier. It was the modular design, light spacing, Lens and quality that sold me. Im sure there are other manufactures out there with quality products, but DEFINITELY do some research first and dont waste your hard earned money on trying something inexpensive.

I love my Blackstars.....they work great....

Lux doesn't really mean anything specifically, but PAR values most certainly do. The spectrum is what provides the PAR values....

Hey bisque this make u laugh as hard as I did lol par means nothing rofl ha ha ha par is what mkes the led world go round ha ha ha ha. Kessils are real good man I use em and I'm happy with it. I won four kessils in their Facebook contest with my old partner and a few friends who had nothin better to do than help us get a few lights. I ran 3 h150s in a side by side with the blackstar that's 110 watts of draw versus the bs 133 he kessils blew it out the water. I use magenta only it's all u need if your not doing a vegg her than a month or so.

I didnt say it meant nothing, I said I wouldn't rely on the values companies give their lights. You can find a LED light on EBay that give great ratings but is junk.
I was just suggesting doing a little research, maybe checking out some independent tests and not opting for a cheap light or not researching things like lenses or design and ending up with a spot light when you wanted something with a bigger footprint or better penetration or a specific spectrum.
Jeez! people on this site love jumping down peoples throats...

Who is jumping down anyone's throat? lol I know lux and PAR aren't the end all be all when it comes to light quality, I've been researching LED's for moths now; I've contacted countless companies requesting info on various products....

For you to say PAR is useless or doesn't mean anything is just silly. Read up on PAR, and not on an LED website.... go to oxford journals, or read some actual scientific journals that haven't been sponsored by LED companies.

All green plants have the same chlorophyll A and B - and all green plants utilize light specifically from 400nm-700nm range for the vast majority of their photosynthesis needs. PAR specifically measures wavelengths between those two values. It's impossible for a light with a higher PAR rating to produce less usable light than a light with a lower PAR rating. Like I said before, that might not be the end all be all, but it's certainly nothing to be chalked up to "useless".

HaHa! I understand the value of Par, I simply said not to rely on the values companies claim. I never said Par was useless. I actually did do diligent research elsewhere, not grow light websites lol, infact thats exactly where I was coming from...

Kaptain Kron said PAR was useless.

I don't trust the numbers that the LED companies release, I was asking if anyone had seen independent research, or had done testing of PAR levels themselves.

back on topic tho! how does the new 350 look? they're pretty powerful from what i see but no change in footprint only thing that turned me off!

yeah a reason why I didnt buy kessils... the footprint is just not worth it.. its nuts, but apparently supposed to be the shit.. if they were the shit, they would have a bigger footprint imo lol

I really wanted to get the Kessils but I am not ready yet. I am trying the Professor's T5 setup first. Maybe I will supplement it later with a Kessil or four :)

Dude the kessils are cool and work awesome for the wattage. I wish they were a panel or something bigger though. I probably would have bought a panel version of the 350
