Graduating veg to flower?

Hello all

Just a thought that has popped into my mind. Most people that grow do 18/6 then straight into 12/12 for the flower. I can only assume the quick switch between 18/6 to 12/12 is meant to stimulate the plants growth by signalling the end of the plants life so it flowers.

What if I were to do something along these lines as my lighting schedule.

Week 1 - 18 on 6 off
Week 2 - 17 on 7 off
Week 3 - 16 on 8 off
Week 4 - 15 on 9 off
Week 5 - 14 on 10 off
Week 6 - 13 on 11 off
Week 7 - 12 on 12 off
Week 8 - 12 on 12 off
Week 9 - 12 on 12 off
Week 10 - 12 on 12 off
Week 11 - 12 on 12 off
Week 12 - 12 on 12 off

Thoughts? and if this has been done before give me a link if you could.

Cheers, Jimmy

Don't have a link, but this is pretty much how it works in the real world with different amounts of hours etc. I don't think it really does anything but it might go into flowering stage quicker once it reaches 12/12. Nobody really posts results, they just ask this question every once and a while.

Since you're paying for the energy to light your grow room it seems like a waste to wait that long. Better off just giving them 36 hrs dark, then flip to 12/12. I don't try to imitate nature in my grow room I try to manipulate it to get the results I want.

So no veg time at all? I was thinking 12/12 from seed but hadn't heard of a dark period then 12/12.

It's only 36 hrs. It's not a week. It seems to help push them along. Haven't read anything to show it hurts. And it's not a necessity either. Some growers do it some don't.
