Yes, but everything is relative. Being raised in the Los Angeles area during the 1950s, I can tell you that the air quality back then, compared to today, is not relative. I remember sitting in class in school having to close the windows so that our eyes would stop tearing up. There was no air conditioning in those days, so we had to leave the windows open to get fresh air. Ha! back then there was no such thing as fresh air unless you were sitting on the beach at the ocean. I remember going to Lake Arrowhead in the 50s and stopping at a liquor store in Covina for a Coke and the sky was a kind of red fog-overcast.

So, the question is, how "clean" must the air be, and what are we willing to sacrifice for it?

I guess i live in the country so i havent really experienced all that. I hate cities so i probably will never have to experience it.
