reliable ph tester ?

bought the ten pound job off ebay / u callibrate with a little screwdriver ( pain in the ass ) i put it in the ph solution7 then shake it out n test my water ! it actualy says use solution 7 then the 4.point somethink and then rinse with distilled water then test away oh after cleaning off the distilled water with some suction paper shit whatever ! all to much hassle/ i though using drops n colour chart last time round was bad ! dam this thing is not easy to calibrate with just the solution 7 which is what my local hydro guy advised that i dont need the number 4. whatever i cud just calibrate using ph 7 solution, i would have a better chance just not using it,, coz every time i put it to 7 then test away after quick shake off get my reading then put it back in the solution and it dont say 7 no more ? any advice pls ?

need a good solid self calibrating ph tester for as cheap as poss any sugestions pls ?

Can't go wrong with either a Hanna or Milwaukee. Stay away from Oakton.

I bought a $30 testor off ebay almost 3 years ago.. has a one touch calibration button. I rarely have to calibrate it, but it's as easy as pressing the CAL button and it flashes - 4-5 seconds later.. it's done.
It automatically adjusts for temperature (as well as displays temp too)View attachment 1886087

Do an ebay search for "self calibrating ph testor" or some shit.. it's no name.. but I've had mine 3 years, replaced 3 sets of batteries, and dropped it into the res more times than I rememeber without a problem (it's water tight for real).

I originally bought a hanna meter, and the set screw thing drove me nuts too - That's when I bought this one.

I bought a ph tester from them, a $90 model and it never worked the first time.

No problems bud, if you want to pm me a link to the auction - I'll double check too.. but it is one of the only ones that look like it on ebay.. comes from china...
I have had it like I said for 3 years, and it's accurate, and durable. The batteries to replace though are about as much as the meter is- uses the scientific ones that are like $9 a piece... but the batteries last about a year before you have to worry about it.

Ive had bad luck with them I had a ph moisture npk light meter i stuck it in a glass of water and it read dry. I send soil samples to msu to have tested it costs ten bucks and they know their shit. I guess you get what you pay for check into a real green house tester not the back yard farmer stuff.

If you don't clean your ph stick regularly shit builds up on it and causes meters to go haywire or just flat out be off. I've gotten wierd readings, then after cleaning it well, it gives a correct one.

I know no one would believe me but I just use a cheapo 5 dollar soil pH meter. I don't know what you do but I just keep my reservoir at 5.8. Works perfect and my plants are flowering beautifully. Was recommended to me by a grower with much more experience than me. Very cheap and lasts forever (no matter how many times you drop it in water...)

Been using the Bluelab combo meter for a while now. Both pH and EC probes stay in the res all the time and work flawlessly! Auto calibration and can display ppm, EC, pH, and res temp.

Pricey but worth it imo.
