Super simple CFL reflector

What I used:
Insulated mylar purchased from Home Depot, approx 6" x 3 1/2"
Packaging tape

How I did it:
Cut the mylar to size, affix the mylar to the CFL ballast with the tape.

Time to complete:
About a minute

Zman6: just remember that if it works it's right. I like what you did. Before I bought my tent I used to use 'aimed reflectors' with my Aerogardens, plastic panels with reflective Mylar glued to it. It worked great. From the photos you gave us I'd say it'll work. Have you thought about spun metal reflectors? They come in various sizes. I've seen them as small as 3 inches. HSA

Whats a spun metal reflector?

CFL's are able to make as much light as they do because the spiral shape has lots of surface area in a small space. Using a reflector like that is restricting the light emanated from the sides of the bulb.

Here, I picked these up at Home depot for like $5 each and painted the inside flat white with high temperature paint. They work beautifully
