Great 420 !! I can just imagine that this made your day, as well your year !! Yes it is time to get rid of some of the pills that you are on, and start taking your right meds of choice !!Good news! I got my recommendation! I am so relieved - time to get off these pillsShould have the paperwork by middle of next week.

Thanks everyone - definitely very relieved. I honestly thought I was going to have to wait - so this definitely made my day/month/year!! Now just to find a caregiver that I can work with and get meds as quickly as possible!

Not in a position to grow yourself eh 420? That's too bad, it's fun and would save you a lot of $, but you already know that. What region did you say you are from? I am not actively seeking additional patients (have 2 now) but would consider doing so. Capacity is not an issue.

Everyone - I am up in the relative north, up in the Houlton area. That being said - I will travel if I have to - that is not an issue. For obvious reasons, closer is better - but if I have to travel, so be it!
I AM getting setup to grow my own - but obviously there is some down time there, and I would like to get medication sooner rather than later. Anyone I would choose as a caregiver I hope will help in achieving that - which I understand from a caregiver perspective can be a downside as well. Ultimately, I need compassion here

I called today and had a good conversation with Joe - I got a very good impression from them. Just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them?
Given that I DO plan on growing myself - a dispensary may be a best solution for me. I understand that most caregivers, because they are a small operation, generally are not big on splitting the grow, ie. the 6 plants ...

Hello Mainers. I have just one question regarding Caregivers in Maine. I was wondering if Caregivers in Maine also have to be patients themselves. I would assume this is the case since other states have this rule (as they wouldn't want those not being patients with access to mmj, much less cultivating it) but I can't find where it actually states it in the Maine statute regarding MMJ. The only information I have been able to find remotely related to this is: Each caregiver can have up to 5 patients, 6 including themselves if they are also a patient. Again, that statement was not from the Statute. Its from mmcnonline.org
So, is that to say that Caregivers dont have to be patients themselves to produce MMJ for patients? Just reading up on the laws of the MMJ states and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nope, one needn't be a patient themselves to be a caregiver.

Thank you Tet. Wow. Only state I have found that doesn't require the caregiver to also be a patient. It is vehemently required in the other states.

Perhaps I am wrong, but the following was told to me whom I trust very dearly. It appears that prior to Maine passing the MMJ laws, someone had the issue of not being able to travel to get their meds of choice, and that his/her spouse was the only way that he/she could obtain them. So ... that being said, I think that when I have to get my next card. I will have my wife added as a Caregiver. In this way, she could transport my meds without being pinched by State of Maine law.
Please correct me if I am wrong in my way of thinking on this matter...

Here's the thing. Prior to LD1296 passed this summer, one could have two caregivers -- one who grows and one who "assists" the patient. Now it appears they only have one type of caregiver, the growing kind, and you can only have one. So, your wife would need to pay 300 bucks I believe. I could be wrong.

You don't need to register as a caregiver for a related person who lives with you so, as long as you don't have another caregiver, this should be fine. Alternately, you could have her get her own card...
