Animal consumption attributes to monocropping, which depletes soil and other environmental disasters, like the genocide of bees through colony collapse disorder. If only 80% of the food used to feed animals was instead fed directly to people, not one person on the planet would starve. Not to mention all the waste and pollution from producing animal food products.
