from what i'm hearing, .... my son smokes pot and then LIES about it. to me of all people.

what i meant was, ... if my son has tried pot i would know. he was raised "honestly", with morals and standards. he has no reason to lie to his parents, about anything. ;)
I was raised with morals and standards too, but my mom wasn't exactly the nicest about weed at first (sent me away on my step dad's dime for 8 months for it) So I couldn't really be honest with her, but I guess if she hadn't sent me away I would have been more open :)
As your kid seems to be...

I used to get stuff for my friends aunt :)
It was an illegal state, so no one could get it good for cheap, and she REALLY needed it

... I graduated high school 1 year early with a 4.4GPA.
Wow! That's amazing. I have a 3.96 on all undergrad and Master's work. That's basically an A. Is 4.4 an AAA? That's 110%.

fdd, It's nice to read something personal on the forum. One of my main goals as a father is instilling sound fiscal principles into the little ones. It's not far behind honesty and humility.

he is 16. he's going to the movies and the mall today. i gave him 54 dollars. i told him i will match whatever change he brings home. i also told him if he found something really nice at the mall and bought it that i would cover that as well. he thought about it for a minute and then said ... "this might be kinda hard, but i like it".

:weed::joint::joint:

he's gonna have to spend at least 15 at the movies, if he wants popcorn and a drink. then maybe another 10 for lunch. that leaves him almost 30 dollars to play with. i'm kinda excited to see how this goes.
You hooked your son up.I would have got 5 bucks or 10 if I would have put in work for him.

I used to mow the lawn, pick up all the branches, rake leaves, crush cans, feed the dogs and take the trash to the curb for $7 a week allowance.

In Arkansas, on an acre and a half of woodland property, a quarter mile from the curb, with 5 dogs and an alcoholic step-dad slamming down a 30 pack every 2 days.

3.96 in University is amazing. My 4.4 was pretty much just from taking APs and getting As. Plus high school is a joke, but thanks :D

my son is 16. he does NOT smoke pot. he gets good grades and has never been in trouble. we have raised him with morals and standards.
my wife doesn't smoke. she is over it all and quite bored with it. she has little to no interest. he follows in her footsteps. he is well educated on the subject and see's it's full effects. he is happy and isn't really lacking anything that pot may offer him at this time. as of yet he's had no reason to try pot. or heroin, or whiskey, or cigarettes, or oral sex on a man, or animal cruelty, or ...... just because it's out there, doesn't mean every kid is doing it. when he approaches a point in his life where he is ready to explore he will come to his parents and we will deal with it at that time accordingly. there are no "set rules" to being a good parent. you can't really say "if this happens then i'll do this." it just doesn't work that way. kids are young and need to understand. my son it not one to often say "but why?" it is always explained. he would never have to "raid" anything from me.

i am in no way comparing pot to animal cruelty. just trying to point out individual desires.
I feel you on that man. I feel that if my life was perfect and I was a truly whole and happy person, that I wouldn't need to smoke weed. I don't think it makes me a bad person, and I'm not a self hating stoner, but I'd like to one day transcend to a level where I wouldn't need to smoke as much if at all.

i offered him more money to help me in the yard and he said "no, i'm cool for now". :)
You should've said 'ok then, you'll do it for free' lol

Nice one dude. It's obvious you love your kid.

Something like 1 in 3 kids in high schools ADMIT to having smoked pot. Let's pretend not even one more kid than that tried weed and didn't tell anyone they did. So 1/3 of kids HAVE TRIED it. Your kid is FULLY EDUCATED ON THE EFFECTS, has a happily married (assuming), happy pot smoking dad :)
You don't think a kid who's parents educated him, and who's dad is happily doing it. Isn't 1 in 3???? The other 2 are the hard core Christian/Athlete kid that got lied to about the effects, and the kid who watched his mom party herself to death.
I'm sorry but you're just wrong about this. There's a whole movement of little 15-16 y/o's who are totally straight-edge. Ever see those 'above the influence' commercials? I run into more high schoolers nowadays that don't smoke than those that do, and I live in the ghetto.

Fdd I think your doing a great job. I found out my dad was toking and never really cared much for it. It ended up full on toking and growing together in the end though.

It got boring for me after a few years, like your wife. If he does smoke I`m sure you`ll be on his case about his chores and schoolwork and won`t let things get out of hand :)

That's really sad :(
I'm sorry for your reason to smoke, I'm glad weed has been there for you like that though.

That would be the other 2... I said 1/3 ADMIT to having tried smoking. Look it up :)

Then it's sad that I do huh ;)
Smoking weed to cover a scar IS sad.

Not funny to me. I guess laughing may cover the scar too :(

If your weed consumption will go down when your standard of life goes up, THEN STOP SMOKING NOW.

Maybe it's "impairing you" from achieving that standard :)
