Lights...?

Hey guys, now im looking into a Hydroponic indoor set up and have some conditions which i need to follow.

Need to spend pritty much as little as possible... or spend enough to buy gear which will not make a massively noticable difference on the electricity bill. This is where i need help, now im after a lamp and wondering which is best to get HPS, MH, Fluro? or LED?

I know that HPS, MH are the best but use the more electricity unless a 200W or 400W would not make a noticable difference?

Can anyone help me out on which to use? Is there a Fluro which can be eqivualant to a MH or HPS?

Hopefully I can get some answers...

Ah new I forgot something, most likely 3 - 5 or around there... Going to have to be in a closet or say a large fridge grow is something im thinking of trying...

go with a 400w HPS. why are you tha worried with electric they dont cost that much every month depending on your area id say a 400w is like $20-$40 a month extra

$20 - $40 is alot when you dont pay the bill... and perants may become suspecious... is there a fluro out there which can do same job?

No.

HPS is most efficent.
You probably shouln't be growing if you don't have permission from your perents. For one thing they will find out. They always do.

Not only is growing dope is an adult sport, it's patently unfair to the other folks living in the house for you to grow without their knowledge and consent. If detected, you're putting innocents in legal jeopardy.

Minors should not expect a lot of help from RIU users in hiding a grow from their mothers.

im no minor, and its not the fact of hiding it, its just that i want as little electricity as possible on out tight budget! im already growing outdoors but would like a constant crop all year round...

You may not be a minor but you do want to conceal a grow from other responsible occupants of the house. Bad rice, grasshopper.

But seriously, i think we have all got the wrong impression by what i am trying to say... so i was wondering if we could scrap the arguements and start over? please, because i know theres alot of experienced guys on this forum and there help would be awsome.

Ive decided to go a small PC grow and grow some exoctic strains because out my ways its all just bag seeds and nothing special Blueberry, White Widow etc... (these may not fit but just using as a example).

Just wanna know which light to use all i can get my hands on which is in my budget is either a 400W HPS. Which would be to big for a standard size PC case? with 2 fans and alot of holes for flow? or some Energy Effiecent Fluros 2 x 20W 1500Lumens each or like 4 15W ones (not sure on lumens) all probly warm white, if this is the go? or cool white?

Just if anyone could help me out would be a big help...

You want to grow it in a midtower PC case? Seriously, do at least a little research before you come here asking dumb questions like that. They would outgrow a PC case in 2 weeks. A 400w HPS would melt the PC case. You want to hide this from your parents which is not a good idea, as they will find out no matter what lights you use. Frankly I don't really care about hiding it from your parents, because its your ass that will get in trouble, what pisses me off is when you come on here asking dumb questions and obbiously havent even done the simplest of searches. Maybe search for "stealth", duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.

I dont wanna shit in your soup man, but scrap the PC case and get a 2X2X6 foot high box, that will let you go atleast one plant! BUT.. GL with lighting, it's not going to work out compaired to the possiable outcome of getting cought during your 3Month grow period!
If your going to grow at all, DONT go less then a compac 200W. I use 2 for VEG and a 2 400MH. The 2 Compac 200W RUN cool producing NO heat to my fingers, little to plant leaves but the 400MH produces heat and runs 4.0amps wires 120V (15amp socket)
The Compac lighting found in grow stores go 125W and 200W, cover both great veg and good flower. Although the downside to my info I only use 1000W HPS and now slowly converting to 600HPS because they run 2.9AMP wired at 240V were as 1000HPS run 4.9AMP 240V.
I understand that you are not going 240, 220, 270V so focus your lighting on 15amp sockets 120V. Thats good enough to apply several 400WMH lighting and MANY 200W compac flour lighitng!
Last but not least- try to get a 4X4 area to use a 200W Compac and stick 3plants in a triangle formation and keep them trimed up passively and bug free! :) Any question on lighting let me know. But think about the outcome of this choice to grow in your familys house lol, I tried and I got cought only becuase, noisy mom. I didnt have any plants but grow shop was there, but worst of all, I grow at work in the ceiling so maybe home isnt a bad idea afterall!!! Here is a picture of the 200W compac in action.
