cfls for flowering ? should i use red and blue ?

Hi im using 2 45w 6500k daylight blue cfls for 1 plant (bagseed) this is my first time so im just growing one plant. hope its female lol i planted the seed on the 20th october so its about 1 month old. im going to flower it in about 3-4 weeks and im going to get a 150w red cfl with a reflector. my question is should i use these blue cfls aswell as the red one im getting? thanks

There is no need for the blue spectrum during flowering you don't want it to put any energy into vegging just flowering so red spec only in my opinion. Also why so long to veg? Expect the size to TRIPLE when you start 12/12 cycle! And just because the bulb is red does not mean it will give off red spectrum light. Make sure the color temp is 2700k it falls in the red spectrum.

incorrect...the period of growth you are in is not determined by the color of the light, but the period of light.

During veg its best to have mostly 6500K bulbs, in flower you want mostly 2700K bulbs, but still a little 6500K to go along with it as you want your leaves to be healthy and continue to grow during flowering as thats where the plant gets its energy from. If you cut out all higher "blue" lighting you are just starving the plant's greenery of being able to perform as it should.

Yeah messah is right here, cracker is completely incorrect. More light is better, i use some blue side lighting even under my 1000 watt hps. In a cfl grow you want all the lights you can get.

What exactly is the benefit from using blue AND red spectrum lighting in veg? ...and also vice versa. How does this affects its growth? Height? I'm just curious how the range of colors can affect your growth stages.

You should be able to tell the sex of a plant at that age, just look up cannabis sexing.

How many watts in cfls is good for a 4ft x18 inch grow area? First grow and 3rd week of flower, bag seed. 2 of 3 were females. I feel lucky for that. Used Mir. grow soil as is all I could find living in hootersville. Will not use again as ended up with really dark and some drooping large leaves. Too much nitro? New buds are looking great but will the problem with large leaves hurt the outcome? Flushed as always helped with house plants but with ferts already in soil to last 3 months, not sure if I can add anything to help flowering. Also flush doesn't work as well with MG already in soil as watering probably releases more. Purchased some organic bone meal but a little afraid to add. Any suggestions.

Blue spectrum lights will say "cool" and red spectrum will say "warm"

the red spectrum bulbs will put off a yellowish orange light compared to the bule spectrum wich will put off a whiter light just turn them on next to each other it will be easy to tell which one is which

I believe the soft white is for flowering 2700k and Bright white for veg. You can see how many ks on package and it will say soft white and bright white. I read somewhere? not to use full spectrum as they put off unusable light. I'm using 1 bright white for every 3 soft white for flowering and have beautiful little buds so far and lots of them.

Actually you do want full spectrum lights, closest to sun is best. The new big thing is using Ceramic Metal Halide bulbs that are the closest to the suns spectrum, reports of better quality buds are universal across all reporting on them. Will me my next upgrade, maybe sooner than i plan with my damn t5 losing a ballast this week.
