you can buy 2 seperate bulbs with different spectrums; one for veg and one for flower. although most bulbs now have a bit of both. basically these bulb produce the sort of light that is found during spring or summer. if u can afford it buy both. if not use 'dual spectrum' bulbs. if u want the complicated answer just ask.
Wait, now I'M confused...what lights do I use in my Magnetic 400w HPS ballast?![]()
Use a magnet to test your bulbs for suitability... ~grin~ cn
Metal Halide(MH) for veg, High Pressure Sodium(HPS) for flower
What is the best spectrum to use for each stage???
I'm just gonna screw a mogul CFL into it and pray for the best!
My Lumatek 600W ballast is made for HPS. I am using it now with a 600 watt Ushio MH conversion bulb. Is your Lumatek a MH or HPS or switchable? cn
You've totally got that backwards my friend. LED's are great for veg but suck for flowering.Whatever you do, don't use LED for veg. they are terrible and growth is very slow. Good for flowering though

No, not from my experience, Using a blackstar 240W led, there is practically little to no growth,
