They all look very good but two are a little droopy. It may be the heat from the lamps. Have you checked the temps? The wattage seems about right for your cab but you have to watch the heat.

Now that you have real plants, you want to get them as close to the light as you can without inducing heat stress. With cfls you have to be right up close. The light intensity falls away very rapidly with fluoros. The more light you pump into them, the faster and bigger they will grow.

If you can pick up a couple of small 2200K cfls the plants will appreciate it. Even though they are vegging they like a bit of red.

In another week you might see preflowers appear. Could even be sooner. It depends on the strain.
yer they do seem a bit droopy, and also sum leaves are curling up.. whhy wud this be?
the temp is around 26c - 29c i think this is good rite?
all my lights are 2700k which is red i have no 6500k bulbs
im in day 17 now and they have started to give off a lil smell mainly the afghans the blue himalaya doesnt smell just yet, i think these autos are suppose to start flowering around now but their still only about 4.5 inches and not too bushy, i hope i get atleast 10g per plant affter all the effort ive put in

will post new pics up tomorrow with my new home made reflector :D (its a beast)

i have done a fair bit of research and the only thing i can think of is heat stress because i havnt given them any nutes but why wud only the leaves half way down be doing this and not the top ones closer to the big bulb?? and the 2 afghans arnt doin it so why is this girl doin it ??? :(

im abit worried as ive never experienced this and would really appreciate some help or advice please

I used 3 or 5 gallon Smart Pots with FF Ocean Forrest and I vegged the plants under T5s. When the plant started budding I moved them into my flower room where I have 2 1000 watt HPS. A Eye Hortilux that throws a lot of blue and a Sunmaster that throws a lot of orange. I probably would have gotten better yields if the lights were not on a 12/12 schedule but I had other plants growing at the time that required 12/12. The autoflower took a bit longer than usual to get to the maturity I like (I like to make sure my weed is completely mature before I harvest). It probably had to do with the lights being on 12/12. I've read that to get autos to mature faster and get a bigger yield you can lengthen the "ON" time.
Are you mental??? with 2000w of hps it would have made no difference......... got any pics??

Hey seal.

Sorry I haven't been around. Things have been disrupted here.

Your girls are moving along and looking pretty good apart from the leaf curling issue. The BH seems to be suffering the worst. Different strains will react differently to stress. 29c is the upper end of the plants' comfort range. In itself it's not a problem but it will exaggerate the dehydration. Strangely, the fan blowing on the leaves (which is in general a good thing) also accelerate the rate of dehydration. This may be why the BH seems the most distressed.

At this point, I would be giving the plants 1/3d to 1/2 the pot volume of water every 2 or three days and a heavy watering, meaning enough water that it starts running out the bottom one every 4/5 waterings.

Well it's a dehydration problem and my guess is it's from *underwatering*. You say you have them in 5L pots and you are only giving 1L of water each time. This is very stingy for a pot that size. It would have been fine while the plants were small and the lights were weak. Small plants dont draw much water from the soil but as they grow they drain the pot faster and faster. I say again, it's much better to make this mistake than over watering but it's still a problem. The plant may also be outgrowing its pot which can make things tricky.

Here's what I would do:

First, take the BH out of its pot and look at the soil. I expect you to find the bottom half to be quite dry. Do this very carefully of course. Make sure the soil is moist but not wet. Work the pot a little with your hands, distorting the rim to break the sides loose from the soil. Put your hand palm down on the soil with the plant stem sticking up between your fingers, turn it upside down and with your free hand tap and tug on the pot until it slides off. This is usually easy to do if you are careful and patient and shouldn't bother the plant. Have your camera handy and take a picture of what you see. Then put her back and apologize for the indignity. :)

If, as I expect the soil is dry at the bottom, get a tub of water filled to about half the height of the pot and set the pot in it until it has soaked up at least two liters of water. You will want to measure the water you put in the tub so you know what a 2L drop i the water level looks like. Do the other two, refilling the tub each time.

Spray or mist the leaves with water until they are dripping like after a heavy rainstorm. A drop of dish soap will help the water wet the leaves.

Turn off the big cfl and the fan for at least 24hrs.

Cover the plants with transparent plastic bags.

You should see improvement in 12hrs and close to complete recovery in 24.

That's great. A simple fix. Don't get overzealous and start overwatering which is much more difficult to fix.

Smell is good but it just means the plant is happy. Some strains are more smelly than others and some start giving off an odor sooner.

It's been three weeks. It's time to check for preflowers. In the next week or so, I expect an explosive burst of growth lasting a couple of weeks. The plants may double or triple in size. That's the 'stretch' phase. After that the plants will devote themselves to producing buds. The exact timing of this varies with strain and autos are rather erratic this way. They should be getting ready to stretch but I have had autos that take their own sweet time. We will just have to wait and see. You mentioned a friend who grew some of these strains? You might check with him to find out when they did what?

I've never grown in pots that small but I expect your plants to become somewhat pot bound or cramped in their containers as they grow. Soil acts as a buffer or storage medium for water and nutrients. When there is less of it, you may have to water and feed in smaller doses but more frequently.

I appreciate the thought but I don't need rep. I can't even trade the points in for a pack of smokes :)

I spent my boyhood in London. I used to tell people that I grew up in London but I realized that never happened and it's probably too late now :)

haha fair play :D and yes today is day 23 and i have seen random white hairs shooting out so i take it its starting that stage where it grows quicker. am i rite to say that?

the blue himalaya is only suppose to grow to 15" so will that still take up normal root space or would it take less due to bein smaller?
the afghans look lovely compared to the BH tho :) they have big leaves and nice colour cant wait to get closer to harvest time :D

It does sound like they are about to get going. 15" high is nice, but how bushy. A short plant can still be big and need a big root system. After harvest I like to pull the plant and look at the roots carefully.

If parts of your soil have gotten very dry they may become water repellent and have trouble getting wet. Add a drop or two of dish soap to your water the next couple of times. Also, its a good idea to water from the bottom every now and then by setting them in a tub of water. This encourages deep roots.

Hey, i just order Afghan Kush Ryder from Attitude but i've read a few journals where AKR is actually NOT autoflowering. I don't have the space to grow a photoperiod plant so I'm hopeing that AKR is indeed a legit AUTO.

not sure havnt seen any cfl grows of this strain to compare but because of how short it is, it must be quite bushy and if you say they double in size then my will be a proper Bush hahaha

i will update later on once ive taken some sexy pictures of my girls

oh yea and i also have a digi thermometer now with a humidity reader and the humidity is around 50% which sounds rite doesnt it?

Okay, yea I was thinking the same thing, they probably did fix any genetic problems by now.

I should be getting started this week or next. Im tuned into your grow though, wondering when the ladies are gonna hit puberty

Well I figured I would jump in this beautiful thread. I am currently on my first grow, and personally I think (and hope) I am doing well. I started by reading a book by Ed Rosenthal then dove into Jorge Cervantes' Growers Bible. Anyway, I bought two clones as a patient at a local dispensary. 1 Rascal og I believe to be sativa; 1 N.Y. Sour Deisel. I also bought the three part jungle juice nutrients. I started the clones under CFLs (1: 300 watt incadescent equivalent CFL; 3: 100 watt incadescent equivalent CFL) for the first week. Next I transferred them to my Early Bloom/Flowering Room, where they vacationed under a 400 Watt Metal Halide resort with an oscillating fan. After a week of Good Blue light spectrum exposure, in order to save money and because of space, I switched to the High Pressure Sodium bulb and begun to flower. By this time my gurls (spelled that way intentionally) a foot and a half. The pictures that I will attach and the information in my thread, are strictly for medicinal purposes only. Pic 1: brought clones home and planted in 3 gallon.
