Indoor CFL grow journal of someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Instead of separating them at flower, you may just want to flower them at the same time so you don't have to worry about it. Then you'll just have a bigger yield from Esmerelda without the hassle of trying to keep her out of the light for 12 hours at a time.

And I'll be in here until you pronounce this journal done with. :) Good luck!

I suppose that would be easier for all involved, but what I was planning on doing was clipping a few clones and sexing one of them. Provided she's female I'd then start to flower esmerelda leaving about 4 vegging clones behind. Once I harvest Esmerelda I'd start the process over again with Princess Consuela, and then esmerellda's clones, and so on and so forth. I basically want to eventually get to the point where I'm harvesting every 1-2 months and keep a stead stream for me and my roommates. Unfortunatley this mean I will have to eventually upgrade my closet.

glad you got the ph under control its amazing how big of an effect it can have on a grow.... good luck I will be watching.

Yea, a PH kit is something that I should've gotten as soon as i started. The little bit of curling that you could see in esmerelda's leaves just yesterday is already starting to fix itself. I have always looked at this as a learning experience, I'm going to make plenty of mistakes this time around, but the more mistakes I make, the more I learn.

I totally know what you're saying. When I'm done with my grow hopefully I'll have enough money for an HPS setup and be able to do a very small scale soil version of this for a couple months before I can get a hydro setup: https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/6592-get-harvest-every-2-weeks.html

^^^That's the dream right there. :) I'd never have 20 plants at each stage, but 4 or 5 would be wonderful.
Yea, there's so much I want to do, but I'm restrained by room and money.

Took another trip to Walmart and Home Depot today. At walmart I got another spray bottle, a gallon of distilled water, 2 y adapters and 4 6500K CFLs (and of course I droped one of the bulbs while I was setting it all up). At the depot I got 4 more clamp lights. My babies have so much light now. I'll post some pics later tonight when it comes time to turn the lights back on.

Do the clamp lights come with the reflector and all that? They're basically a socket, cord, and clamp, correct? How much are those?

Good to see another Wal-Mart patron showing these fancy HPS growers how it's REALLY done. :) Those GE Daylight CFLs are nice, aren't they? I assume you got the 100w (26w) in a 2-pack for something like $6.84? Can't beat it.

I was bored, and alittle high, last night so I decided to go and start to germ all of the other seeds that I found in the bag that I just finished last night. This is the same bag that esmerelda and Princess Consuela came from.

And just for fun, here's an updated version of my no frills grow journal:
15-Feb Esmerelda sprouts
28-Feb 5 Seeds put in paper towel
29-Feb Esmerelda Transplanted into 10" pot
29-Feb New sprout date for Esmerelda due to her being eaten by ozzy on 3/1
1-Mar Ozzy is a whore
1-Mar Roberta's seed cracked
2-MarMoon beam and Princess Consuela's seeds have cracked
2-Mar Roberta, Moon beam, and Princess Consuela are planted
4-Mar Roberta Sprouts
4-Mar Dory Cracks and is planted
5-Mar Moon Beam Sprouts
5-Mar Princess Consuela Sprouts
6-Mar Roberta slumps over
6-Mar Roberta burried up to her neck
7-Mar Roberta is no more
7-Mar Given up on Dory ever sprouting
12-Mar Moon Beam and Princess Consuela are 1 Week old Today
15-Mar MB and PC transplanted and not looking too well
15-MarSuperthrive bought
16-Mar PC showing signs of improvement
20-Mar Moon Beam is no more
24-Mar Finally calibrated PH up from 5.0
25-Mar Started girls on half strength nutes every other watering
27-Mar Started about 15 new seeds on a paper towel

I've also been thinking about my plants' lineage, so to speak. So, here's a question that I'd like to get people's oponions on: Which is better and/or easier to do? Keep one plant as a mother and just keep clipping clones? Or, take clones to ensure another generation and then flower the mother?

If you take clippings for clones after budding, you'll have to put the mom back into the veg state for a while first. Just for that I'd say it's probably easier on you and the plant to take the clippings before you flower.

How do I regenerate/rejuvenate/reveg a plant after harvest?

Are the 15 new seeds backup, or are you just going to expand your grow?

I wouldn't be taking the clones after budding. I'd go and take them towards then end of her vegging, once the clones have taken root I would then flower the mother, then I'd raise the clones for awhile and then repeat the process.

As far as the new seeds, like I said, I was alittle high at the time. I was planning on just germing about 5 or so to replace the ones that had died. But I wound up just saying fuck it and put them all in. The first of them has alredy cracked. Noticed it last night, I just finished planting it.

I'm actually planning on experimenting with a bunch of these new ones. I'm really currious about the effects of nutrients on plants. They're all getting a week of just plain water, then atleast one plant is going to just stay on water, antother on superthrive, and another on half then full stregth nutes.

I'll definitely stick around to see how that goes! Sounds really interesting. You should try out a couple different pH levels too, if you can.

I was thinking about all the new seeds, today I planted the 10th one (there were only 13 not 15) I'm thinking I'll just cut them off there. The other 3 may crack eventually, but I've already got 10 going, I don't need another 3.

but anyways, I just planted that last one about 10 minutes ago, on my way out of the closet I noticed that the one that cracked and was planted first has sprouted. I was thinking I'd call her Roberta II. I was thinking I'd just go and use the names of my fallen babies before I go and start comming up with original names. If anyone has any name ideas, now is the time.

I've thought about, but I don't think I'm going to. In the grow I've already seen the side effects of using water whose ph was out of wack. Plus, I'm using a cheap PH kit, I can only tell ranges and if I were doing that I'd want to have specifics.

Very true, and a wise choice. It's hard to balance several seperate containers, too.

As is I have 2 1 gal bottles of water, one has nutes and the other is just plain distilled water. Each has their own spray bottle. I figured, why not just add one more and put some Superthrive in it.

Dory II is sprouting!

Ooh, then you could water a couple plants with the nute formula AND superthrive and see what happens. I'd say that's your best bet for a nice moneymaker.

That's actually a pretty good idea. OK, here's what I think I'll do: Assuming they all sprout I will have 10 plants. 2 will recieve nothing but water, 2 will recieve nothing but superthrive, 2 will get nutes every watering, 2 will alternate between nutes and Superthrive.

Superthrive contains completely different things than nutes. It will not replace nutes, and should be used in conjunction with nutes when applicable.
