2 600w hps over 16 plants?

if i were to set up a room, with 2 600w hps over 16 feminized seeds, and veg for 2 weeks at 20/4 then switch to 12/12, approx. what would be my harvest? i know it would all vary, but do you think its safe to say id get at least 2oz per plant if all went well?

Seems hard to tell without an idea on strains. Assuming you have high quality seeds you can go by the 1g/1W of light. This is wet weight mind you.

How big is the grow room? if all goes well it may do better than that. i believe 16 plants under 1200w can do 2oz each provided they have enough space
to grow without competing for light and space. do you plan to use a light rail?

Yeah, grow room size is a factor. Also, are you doing soil or hydro? Yields can vary with growing mediums. Oh and, do you plan to use any advanced techniques like LST or super cropping?

the room size would be a 6x6x6, and soil most likely fox farms. the strain is undecided as of yet, but would be of high quality. i had never though of scrog, but seems like it would be a very smart choice. maybe if i scrogged 4 plants under each 600w hps, im just looking to get at least 2lb each harvest to make it worth my while.
someone on another forum also mentioned having 10 plants under each light and going 12/12 from seed, any opinions on that route?

IMO if you wanna get 2lbs off each harvest with 1200watts, your gonna need to inject C02, ample AC, and solid veg time with scrogging and topping. 6x6x6 is a good space but kinda big for 2 600s. A light mover would help cover some ground, but it doesn't substitute light. I don't really understand what you mean by 12/12 from seed, look at commercial strains like power plant and maybe blue dream. www.thegreen5cene.com

So, you got 36 sq.ft of grow space. That is a bit much for 2 600w's, you may want to consider upgrading to 1000w lights.

SCROG is a very effective growing method. If you are looking for max yield with a minimum of plants, I suggest SCROG over the 10 plants per light and 12/12 from seed. The 12/12 from seed can cause alot of stress on your plant, especially during the seedling, or fresh clone, phase.

It's a method of growing used to focus the plant on bud production, rather than vegetative growth. Like I said, lots of stress, I don't recommend.

What ever the strain, I doubt you will hit 2oz per plant with only 2 weeks veg. Thats pretty much a sog and the 2 lights will prob just about do 16 plants. IMHO of course.

That reminds me, those fem seeds are notorious for their hermie genetics. So, with that in mind, always remember that if you add any extra stresses (12/12 from seed) to the plant, you may end up with a hermie.

Not true at all.....fem seeds are just fine. And a plant grown 12/12 from seed is no more prone to turning hermi than one vegged for awhile.....

Good excerpt from a article I read about month ago on feminized seeds. Feminized seeds don't automatically mean that they are hermaphroditic, it means that they have a greater risk because of the genetics.

What are Feminized Seeds, really? From a FEM breeders point of view, they’re 99% female stock, some even claim 100% from seed. If you ask a genealogist they will tell you that female plants chromosomes are XX. A male plant has XY. A hermaphrodite has XXY. When you force a XX female plant to artificially produce pollen whether natural, forced, or by chemical, it will produce male sex parts that release XXY pollen. The extra Y chromosome is added to the female XX to make, mostly XX (female) seeds, but with recessive XXy genes also. This extra (y) cannot be bred out. Bad, or in-consist indoor environments will trigger this hermaphrodite tendency to surface quickly.

I do agree with you on the 12/12 from seed. I did a bit more research and it does seem like a rather low stress growing method. Sorry about that, my bad lol.
