True, someone who wants to teach generally consents to teach because they want to, but others consent to teach for other reasons (money, outside influences, status, etc.) and those are the people to watch out for. Those are the ones who will teach you everything YOU know, but not everything they know. I do agree that there are some crusty souls out there who never intended to teach anybody a GD thing, but then someone comes along with the right spark and the right aptitude and even a crusty codger will teach the right pupil...but those are rare and mostly unplanned experiences.True, though I generally feel that someone consents to teach because they want to teach. Sometimes certain personalities click, then, after a friendship is born and trust built, knowledge is passed along, and both grow from the experience. I've chiseled through many crusty exteriors only to find a treasure beneath.
Fin is looking for a teacher and I hope that he finds one who wants to teach him to blow glass for the mere sake of helping him make beautiful pieces as opposed to someone who will teach him the basics of how to blow glass because they get $XX per session and get to call themselves a teacher.
