Light (Fluffy) Buds... Why?

This is my second grow, but my first semi-successful grow. My first grow was some kush bag seed that turned hermi on me. My second grow is some Attitude seed bank Afghan kush x White Widow. I veged for 4 weeks and flowered for 9 (no ambers till week 9.)

My Set up is:
400w HPS
400w digital balast
vented light reflector
6" fan and piping

My Nutrients:
Started with General Hydroponics but switched to Advanced Nutrients
Advanced Nutrients Jungle Juice (Bloom, Grow, Micro)
Advanced Nutrients Overdrive
Advanced Nutrients Final Flush (used 2nd to last week of flowering)
Organic Soil

I veged at 18 hours on 6 off. Flowered at 12 and 12. pH was at between 6.2-6.5. 6x6 light proof grow room (mylar on all 4 sides.)
Plants Final size: 6ft. 2inch.
Final weight: Don't know yet ( will update )

The reason I am posting is because my buds are drying right now and they are what I would call fluffy. The buds don't have that much weight to them, even though they look fantastic. I think everything I did on this grow was step by step to what I was supposed to do, but they didn't get the huge buds I was looking for. Why is it or what did I not do to make my buds light? What is it to do to make nugs thicker throughout, and not just a bunch of hairs?

What other things do you need to know?

Da pic would help, cause it could be a multitude of issues~
Old lights
over watering
over feeding
root rot
good luck~

Sounds like you flushed and starved them the final few weeks when they beef up the most. And a 400 watt is not nearly big enough to reach the lower portions of a 6 ft plant effectively.

what is the pitch of the fan blades? you need to actually measure the Cubic Feet Per minute coming out of that thing -- It could be so strong that it is actually blowing wind right into the structure of the plant basically causing a effect like the difference with a block of cream cheese and a tub of whooped cream cheese..I think you got the "whooped kind" -- they both look the same and taste the same but the weight and volume are way different and although I don't recommend this for health reasons because it could give you nervous system damage  -- but if your nervous system is pretty much shot like mine is anyway or you want to give a friend a lasting gift they will never forget you could try adding lead sulfate to your watering solution -- the sulfur will go right to the buds and exit via the Stoma on the leaf surface leaving behind the lead to give you that weight you are looking for:roll: -- just don't smoke any of it unless you are already brain damaged...it that case it may be a win-win......hope this helpsbongsmilie

the light is your problem...400 watt light is good for a room half that size..you need to add a 1000 watt light to that room and you will see the huge difference.use your 400 watter for moms and clones in another area..also you have to top and flower sooner to keep the canopy low and full..good luck

Very true I have a 400 HPS in a 5 x 2.5 room however I also have 400W of CFL in there also -- not to mention a 24W LED Panel -- I think that is alllrightt for now so you are a wee bit no wattage ..

WTF is wrong with you dude!?

" Toxicology

Lead sulfate is toxic by inhalation, ingestion and skin contact. It is a cumulative poison, and repeated exposure may lead to anemia, kidney damage, eyesight damage or damage to the central nervous system (especially in children). Some lead salts may cause reproductive defects and cardiovascular disturbances. It is also corrosive - contact with the eyes can lead to severe irritation or burns. Typical threshold limit value (above which the substance is harmful) is 0.15 mg/m³."

You are a fucking asshole!

I agree that pictures would definitely help but it's probably too late for that unless you took some earlier.

Also I agree that your plant height probably didn't help. Especially indoors with artificial light you want to keep plants short and squat so that the available light can reach more if not all the plant.

More than anything just honing your skills will be all you need to get the denser buds you're looking for. It may also be helpful to switch your base nutes. The Jungle Juice is a direct copy of General Hydroponics' Flora Series and growing super-dense buds can be tough with it. Consider going hydroponic and switching to the Sensi 2 part or the GMB 3 part that AN makes. If possible get the pH Perfect versions with the Hobbyist bundle so you don't have to watch pH at all. (Just make sure you use RO water or watch your pH for a few days to make sure it works with your water.)

Not to be critical but there isn't much point in using organic soil if you're going to use non-organic nutrients. The organic "purists" won't consider that to be organic. Of course it's totally up to your personal preference, I'm just saying that for most people the point of doing organic is to do it 100% organic.
