Hey guys ^^

I know costumery is technically an art, but Toke and Talk gets more user traffic than the art forum.

Please share your cosplay, Halloween costumes, national dress, or any other form of costume. Post cool examples from your own collection or the interwebs. Maybe we could exchange tips on costume making, photography or just discuss aspects of costumes you like <3

By the suggestion of a very special friend :3

I still don't understand why people think cosplay is weird or dorky, but when they want to wear slutty halloween costumes or go to a fancy dress party, it's okay. There's usually more passion, dedication and quality in cosplay (obviously you get shit ones).

The convention I last went to happened to be the day before Halloween so when I came back on the bus, the people in half-assed halloween costumes were looking me, then themselves and suddenly feeling a bit awkward. I might have been stared at alot that journey but the May convention, it was much more. I don't see why people can't just see someone in a costume and think 'there must be a reason, or event this person is in costume for' and evaluate it for its aesthetic appeal and quality like any other outfit.

People dressing up for premieres is cosplay. I noticed even people in 'normal clothes' going to the movies often wear something subtly connected to what they are seeing. To a certain extent, going to a sports event in team colors and face paint is also cosplay. *shrugs*

True! When I had my makeup done for my professional photos, too I was shocked at how much they were caking it on, but it didn't look like that on film

Seeing you in red lipstick reminds me of how much I want to see you as a pinup girl X3 <3 So pretty x

There is a man in Hobart that is always dressed as a pirate... His everyday clothing is pirate costumes... It's awesome...

Was the cosplay complete with cigarettes and booze, Crypty? I'd love a picture if you wouldn't mind. You could edit out your face.

Shan-Shan, that is awesome. I made mama wear pirate lolita to a convention with me and she's been looking at cutsewn, leather and ruffled pirate-y looking things since. It suits her, so we're both happy.

I'm trying to make up my mind who to Cosplay in May. One option so far is Kraehe from Princess tutu... simply because it's very cheap to buy shitloads of tulle ^^;

I might not be able to pull off all that chest-baring though

Or San. I have a big white fur and some white/cream rabbit pelts that may come in handy. And Fimo/Sculpey.
