DIY Drip irrigation tips and opinions welcomed

Hey guys want to set up a drip irrigation so i could water some seedlings on auto or use it later with one or two big plants.

My plan for a drip irrigation would be as follows. I just need it to water 6 plants for around 17 days. All the plants will be small seedlings and shouldnt require much water.
So i am hoping to get a 5 gallon bucket submerge a pump in it. The pump will be connected to a timer that will water the plants once a day for 5 min (still need to find a timer with 5 min interval). If i use .5GPH drippers for 5 min that uses 158ml per plant per day. Meaning i use just under a liter of water per day. 4 liters per gallon, at 5 gallon bucket means i should have 20+ days.

Ill be in soil so nutes shouldnt be a problem.

Will 158ml be enough water? i figured it would only be a little dry towards the end.

What do you guys think? I dont see why it wont work but let me here your opinions.

Test your idea now, before you need the system. Start by watering them with 150ml everyday and see how they react. For seedlings, this might be a bit much but idk.

Only thing I would advise, make sure to add an airstone to your bucket. I am sure some nasty crap could grow over a 17 day period.

Good Luck, let us know how it works out.

I agree with this advise here. RIght now you are guessing at data and asking for feedback for a room and environment only you will know. As Uber suggest. Test and get to know your plants by hand watering until you find the rate in which they need water. This will vary strain to strain and more so with your environment and growing medium. You make assumptions also that their intake will stay constant for 17 days. I don't think you're going to kick off seedlings for the first time on a strain without having to check in on it ever few days at the most. Good luck

check out my mother cabinet (post 4)... You don't have to go to all that trouble with timers and what not in a top feed set up.. leave it run for your whole lights on period.
Can take some time and lay it out it you are interested. It's just a roughneck tote with the lid flipped upsidedown
Nice and simple i like it, very possible they will die just though id see if anyone else had automated seedlings before.
