Our friend keeps telling us we won't get good bud from cfl's, but then he's an old hippie...Couple of questions. When should we go to 12/12 light? We have about 5 more feet of growspace (up), so that's not a problem. (The plants are about 6" tall each right now, it's been about 3 weeks since they were cloned. But they were kind of stunted, from poor lighting and soil, when we got them 11 days ago.) Can you veg a plant too long? Are there any benefits of going to 18 hrs light, then going to 12/12?

And GK is your book for sale in America's B & N's? I would love to buy it. I have to make it my business to go to the book store, I would like to see all you have to offer. I am currently in flowering in my only chamber with a 400w HPS, and two hydro tanks. I want to build my cloning chamber now, because I don't want to give it all up after harvest. I was thinking to use a chest (like a tool chest, ya know) Long Ways verticle, closet style. And I wanted to put lets say 16 cups on the bottom. What to you think I could do, to get it set up. Do you think thats a good box? And lets go into the lighting. How much Wattage do I need of What exactly. There are so many.

here are pics from today. i'd recomend the Buds For Less book just for the lighting ideas. the light setup is VERY adjustable, and i've noticed that with using lots of Y adapters you can position lights wherever needed. i'm just going to raise my setup as the girls grow and extend lights down the sides using the adapters. so far i'm using all 42 watt bulbs. i keep hearing MG soil is crap and you can't get good bud from flowering in CFL, but we'll see...:blsmoke:
PS vaporize, it's better for you! tastes WAY better too

did i do it again? jeez this is way too complicated:joint:

GREAT PICTURES!!

FLOWER NOW!

THEY LOOK HEALTHY

CFLS WILL NOT DO WELL WITH LARGE PLANTS... UNLESS YOU KEEP ADDING SHIT LOADS OF BULBS..

flower now.. and then in a 10-16 days you can clone the lower branches..

start a new thread and send me a link.. I will enjoy watching your grow progress

My big problem, is no digital cam. As soon as I can get to the book store, I will buy your book. So what's the difference with like those CFLs that Stealth Hydro sells, that say dual spectrum. Is it bull shit? Or do they come in different spectrums. And I'm guessing to steer away from tubes right. CFLs are the spirals only? I looked at home depots reflectors w/ fixtures a while ago I liked but was confused on the T? cause I didn't know whats best and the difference. I know it's been said t5, but they have t8 t12?

The KEY factors when FLOWERING is not HEIGHT, but rather NUMBER of NODES...

You want at least 4 nodes.... BUT not more than 8 when using CFLs or really any fluorescents...

You also want the plant to be very very healthy... A healthy plant will have vigorous new growth with each NEW set of fan leaves BEING larger than the previous set...

a healthy YOUNG plant can be flowered early with great success!

i have room and need as much as i can get since we use a LOT and the spare bathroom is tiny. and i'm spending WAY too much money. when i think of how much money i've spent on it in the last 15 yrs it makes me sick.:spew:
i am willing to wait a little longer and spend more money on lights and adapters. i'm thinking 2 larger CFLs over each girl and a string of lights down the sides built with adapters from each main socket....
however, i try not to think- my few remaining brain cells bumb into eachother and fall down when they get excited.
PS if i sign Bullfrog it's me, if there is no sig then it's my wife posting

plants 2 and 3 have 14 to 16 nodes, they are thick and have nodes growing from them already. plants are only 6" tall but are growing fast since transplanting. i'll start a new thread and u a link

That should not happen?

The 42 watt bulbs should not burn or at least not significantly burn yor plants..

do you have a picture? how close is the bulb to your foliage?

cheers
it was probably about 1 inch away but its was the very top of the bulb pointed at it would that create a hot spot?

We have decided to go ahead and take the clones and start the plants flowering today. Not really sure that they are big enough to take clones, but we really need to start flowering these plants, going by Garden Known's guidelines. So we'll see what happens I guess....:?
