8 hours is crazy! hot plate always got the job done for me, now i just use a vac!
8 hours on a heating pad is nothing when you take into account the 8+ week flower time And time flies when you're asleep; let it sit overnight.
i will help you paddle this boat. The whole budder / shatter is so confusing to me now. I thought I had a grip on it but recently I have been running green crack. The first 2 times we ran it when we started to whip it, it buddered right up. Dried into really stable, easy to touch budder. But the last couple times, running the same bud, using the same methods it has been coming out more sappy. Like some light colored tree sap, and another time it came out like a goo. The only variable in the methods was the outside weather. I am thinking humidity plays a big role possibly. I am not even sure about anything anymore though when it comes to getting budder.
I buy vector buy the case. So butane is not a variable in my equation.Butane brand seems to make a difference but I don't buy the "Can't make wax with Vector" argument. I just sprayed a half pound with Vector and the stuff waxed up almost immediately after being whipped where as the exact same material with Power took hours and hours on the heating pad to wax up - everything was performed the same with the only variable being the butane.
I agree with jdro on how temperamental the whole process is. I have found that the product varies greatly in consistency depending on when you start to scrape it up and whip it how much butane you've let bubble off before starting.
1600x fuck yeah... cant wait..i just bought this, .... http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Celestron-LCD-Deluxe-Digital-Microscope/6026837/product.html

hey fdd i think you're on the right track with the water theory, i think thats why oil made with cured bud budders up faster because it has a little moisture content as opposed to bone dry buds or shake
That's badassi just bought this, .... http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Celestron-LCD-Deluxe-Digital-Microscope/6026837/product.html

start slowly adding heat when you start to whip. but if you add too much heat you will scorch it and it will never wax up. i find that making bho is kinda like making mayonnaise. you are whipping a solution into an emulsion and it seems to be more of an art rather than a exact science. for me each run is slightly different and takes slightly different levels of heat and whipping to wax it up. one thing i am pretty sure about is that if you add too high of heat to the oil it will not wax and become clearer darker and more of a shatter consistency.every time i purge and whip it is getting thicker. it's still hella sticky though.
This person knows, +rep. Thats pretty much exactly what my bho looks like after its sprayed and scaped into the middle.. if you do what irie said and add some heat as you whip you will see the texture change. My budder usually looks like that, goes into an almost liquid state, then will whip up. all strains take different amounts of heat and time depending on how well it was cured, ect. imo.start slowly adding heat when you start to whip. but if you add too much heat you will scorch it and it will never wax up. i find that making bho is kinda like making mayonnaise. you are whipping a solution into an emulsion and it seems to be more of an art rather than a exact science. for me each run is slightly different and takes slightly different levels of heat and whipping to wax it up. one thing i am pretty sure about is that if you add too high of heat to the oil it will not wax and become clearer darker and more of a shatter consistency.
