mainers, i need your help!

friends, a friend of mine is in need of a doctor who is open-minded enough to help her with her medical issues, but who is not dr sulak (too far away and far too expensive)... is there someone who can help guide this patient in the right direction??? perhaps someone in southern york county??? or even york county if possible... i know not everyone wants to share this publicly, so i will ask for anyone with any information to please pm it to me??? i owe you one, thanks in advance!!!

Sulak is too far for York County? He has an office in Falmouth now, you know. And, while it is expensive, maybe he makes accommodations for low income, I have no idea.

I have to agree with Tet that Dustin or Shawn is your best bet. I was lucky to have two doctors that signed my papers, but they were my Doctors who have been treating my illness for over 6 years.

Damn lucky. I went to a consultation service myself to avoid the bs, my personal care is almost 70! My new neurologist is the president of the state neuro association, leads the only states stroke center, etc. Great lady and doctor. I'm considering clueing her into my status to see how she responds. I don't expire for more than a year but it would be nice to know my regular Dr. will sign for me and to know I'm seeing someone who knows why I do what I do. So far the only person who has understood that is the doctor at the consulation service. Maybe I should make her my personal care.

I read that as well Tet ... But perhaps ... I am sure more details will be forthcoming.

As for my Urologist backing me up, I can tell you that "The Office" could not bring up the matter. In matter of fact, it went down as this; .... I asked the RN who was changing my cath (SuperPubic Cath) out, as to how "Doc" felt about MMJ as a drug for my chronic pain. She IMMEDIATELY said to me, " I am so glad that YOU asked." It appears that THEY cannot bring up the matter, it is only at the patients request. Now I am only speaking about this happening to me, at this particular office, and so forth. All I know is that they treat a lot of Veterans and people that are either Quads or Paras, and do a lot of change outs with them. Note* I am not a Veteran, nor paralyzed ... But I will do whatever I can help for these individuals.

So did your Urologist make the reccomendation for you? That's great the nurse clued you in to the office procedures, and now you can inform others to speak up.

I know in RI law it explicitly states no doctor can be punished or sanctioned by the state for making the reccomendation, however I'm not aware of all the technicalities. The consulation service I went to however is perhaps more informed on the laws then the writers themselves. Not only did they facilitate everything, but they physically consult you afterwards and they know the boundaries of what the doctor can talk to you about and what can be discussed afterwards with the advisor of sorts.

It's a great place, but at the same time, expensive.

What doctors are worried about, mine included, are the federal laws. My doc is part of one of the largest health providers in the state and he would give me a cert in a second if he could. The association is privately owned and they will not allow the docs to do it.

I have a friend who is a big ice fishing nut, tons of gear and his wife is a widow in the winter lol. He must be rather frustrated by now.

That's terrible. You'd think they would think legal ramification from potential malpractice lawsuits would outweight simple threats of unspecified federal prosecution. Malpractice for not perscibing MMJ is unpreciented I'd imagine, but having a policy where a doctor can't perscribe a legal and regulated medicine - makes you wonder. I'm no lawyer nor do I want to be one! I don't plan on sueing anyone either.


Here in RI we've still not opened compassion centers in the 3 years we've had MMJ. (Because of those same threats.)

You should call to bust his chops. Ice fishermen wait all year for this!
